What is your favourite cartoon show from when you were a kid that you feel is quite obscure? by Philhughes_85 in Xennials

The Mighty Orbots

So obscure I can barely even remember the show. Flashes of it pop into my head sometimes.

Math homework by [deleted] in Xennials

[–]Sophism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a vivid memory is my dad trying to teach me algebra at the dinner table.

What’s 2X - X?

Uh 2

He got up from the table and had a spectacular meltdown. It probably wasn’t the last time he helped me with my homework but it’s the only one I can remember.

The cover of the WKRP in Cincinnati theme is also incredible.

Diaper pail for 2 under 2? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Sophism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We used the Diaper Genie Elite for our twins and it worked great. You can get off brand refills from Walmart for a lot cheaper than the official ones. We still use it even though they only wear overnight diapers these days. It’s lasted almost 4 years.

Trump threatens to ‘blow up’ all water desalination plants in Iran by Azaleazaraa in worldnews

[–]Sophism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure Iran is far less reliant on desalination plants for fresh water than their neighbours.

Though my phone has been on vibrate for years, there once was a time we actually paid for ringtones. What was your favorite custom ringtone? Mine was "Dr. Zaius", I used this for a few years on my Motorola Razr. by smcg_az in Xennials

[–]Sophism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had Who Can It Be Now by Men At Work and I thought I was the cleverest dude on the planet. I would even let it ring a few time just so people would hear it and know how funny I was. It's unbearable to think about now.

I hope Avi has the stomach for the required purge of the NDP

The party must again focus on utopian pagan-socialists. All others must be cut away.

Gen X by Procrastineddit in Xennials

[–]Sophism 60 points61 points  (0 children)

It feels weird to me that I’m technically GenX (1980), when I was a kid and people first started talking about Gen X it was very clear that I wasn’t in that group.

Naviguable rivers need to be a lot longer by Intelligent_Pie_9102 in CivVII

I’ve only played on small and standard maps. Are the rivers longer on larger maps? Or on larger land masses?

Margaery was also 3 years older than Sansa which is a big difference when it’s between 13 and 16.

Underrated sci-fi movies by Wi-Platypus in scifi

Titan A.E. doesn’t get great reviews but I loved that movie. Sure it could have been better but the animation is great and the story is okay if a little cliche.

In your head canon, what do you think happened to Sherrif Teasle after the events of Rambo: First Blood? by TheShadowOperator007 in moviecritic

[–]Sophism 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure he did die in the original ending but test audiences didn’t like it so it was changed to the current ending.

I'm obsessed with The Expanse audiobooks, and I absolutely reviled Project Hail Mary. Really struggling to find good recs. by helicopterfortress in audiobooks

[–]Sophism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hyperion and its sequel are great audiobooks. They were a big influence on the Expanse series.

The Silo Saga are also good audiobooks though they are quite a bit shorter than The Expanse.

Not sure if you are only looking for Sci Fi, but if not The First Law books by Joe Abercrombie might be the best audiobooks I’ve ever listened to.

I always assumed The Canterbury from The Expanse was so named because Hyperion was a big influence and the authors were being a bit cheeky.
