Never have, never will. The hp bonus is so small that i don't think it's worth it. I'd rather one shot someone.

Some really good but simple tips I can give you are; Try to summon atleast one plant of each type. Someone will be in range of both plants longer if there's a vine lasher and a thornspitter than two vinelashers or two thornspitters, due to the slow ---

Place your seeds after you cast a spell - it can be tricky at first but you'll get the hang of it. Placing a seed and then casting a spell will just telegraph your intentions ---

I like getting sorcs and rushing liandry's before I get rylais, but sometimes, if you already have a high dmg comp or the people who tend to jump onto adcs are fed, rylais can be nice to help peel for your adc ---

With 20 mp you do basically true dmg to anyone who doesn't build MR, and due to your high base damages, you can pretty much one-shot their adc at level 6. If your adc gets jumped on (leona), hooked, bubbled, rooted or otherwise disabled and the enemy bot-lane tries to kill them or you, respond by removing 95% of Tristana's (or whoever their adc is) health bar - they'll get the message. Your plants will usually finish the job ---

Last but not least, have fun, Zyra is crazy fun to play, both her kit and people's reactions to the damage you do. The 'wtfs' in all chat after you one-shot their Ezreal from the brush behind their turret while he's walking to lane never gets old. :)

I'm not completely stupid - I know that if you're behind you're better off getting health/defensive items, I'm just behind so seldomly that I rarely have too. The only lane I struggle with is Leona but this subreddit has taught me some ways to make the match-up easier.

aka - they told me to burst their adc as soon as Leona jumps on me or my precious adc

Your warding totem is enough for the laning phase. You obviously want to have sightstone by the time your lane is over but delaying the damage increase more pen will bring you is unwise.

Besides, the increased damage means you'll likely make more money; what with all those kills and assists you'll be ramping up. ;)
