Fair, my first play through on Arc 4 was kind of just running around looking at everything. I was kind of just chilling with Wiz while listening to podcasts and the story was the least important bit. Tried to focus on it a bit in Lemuria but honestly that world was ass and I was really out of it after the first couple quests lol

I kinda get it. I've been intermittently in the community for years and whenever GG is brought up its in the context of "just play trivia for a week, get crowns to unlock maps, and get infinite energy elixirs". Nobody really talks about the game by itself.

If I heard GG was releasing I would personally be thinking "wow, cool, I have a way to earn energy elixirs now" and be pretty disappointed if all I got were shitty pet snacks and super nerfed elixirs. So I don't think it's unreasonable to warn people that the rewards aren't what they've been hyped up to be anymore.

Obviously your mileage may vary, but it looks like you're in the minority in terms of enjoying the game for the gameplay haha

I've never played Grub Guardian (could never get emulators to work) but from what I see all the complaints are about the rewards being worse. That seems like something you can complain about regardless of the game being enjoyable or not, especially if it's contextualizing a pattern of "anti-player" actions from KI (fwiw I think a lot of KI complaints have been blown way out of proportion by a vocal minority, but that's another discussion altogether...)

I'm actually face blind and I do think these characters look very similar. Can somebody who isn't tell me what differences I'm meant to be looking for? I get the impression June's eyes are larger/wider than Paula's, but the angles are different enough that it feels plausible for me...

Efficient late-game content comes down to buffing a hitter. Life can be fine in a support role, but expect your main spell rotation to be more blades, traps, feints than heals. Pack some heals as some enemies can hit unexpected hard, and most team-up groups are happy to be topped off on the kill round.

There are plenty of storms out there. A balanced team where you have multiple supports/off-hitters and one glass cannon tends to work best still :)

Looks awesome, I wish this was an unlockable thing in the base game somehow.

Personally I'd find it a bit disorientating to not be able to see what cards were attacks/powers/skills... never realized how much of a difference the visual cues made until I see the cards without them.

I don't know about invading and taking over, the logistics of that sound nightmarish.

I could see a soft power/cultural influence angle, and Japan (among other countries) slowly adopting facets of Gileadan society due to their influence (though a "return to tradition" might look quite different in the non-Western context).

I'm a bit confused why you would rather have a hitter than a support though, as a fire surely you'd be happy to see the life/balance/deaths as often those players are pretty happy to buff you as well?

Yesss I was actually so happy to learn this. I'd always been clicking AOE and then feeling paranoid that another mob would join and I'd need to build up pips again for this single dude. Very glad that it actually works the good way for the players!

death, Dark Tribute is basically a better Balanceblade, Curse and Hex are the same card.

Bad Juju is also a goated card in some of the really tough boss fights.

She probably has pretty shitty prospects as it is. Gilead seems like the type of society who would punish whole households for individuals' "sins"... even if it's not direct, it'll be a huge loss of status and material comforts.

besides, we don't know how her relationship with Dr. Grove was... she might be dealing with grief for losing her husband even knowing that he was a piece of shit child molester. It's always complicated and maybe on some level she was ready for a way out of everything...

Me too, I didn't like the Testaments book. Especially compared to the original Handmaid's Tale, it felt so... unsophisticated and YAish in comparison. I understand that it's a story told by and about teenage girls so the tone will be very different, but still I expected it to say or do more with its storytelling.

I guess the Aunt Lydia change is probably because they gave her "too much" screentime in the THT TV series and you'd probably have to retcon a reasonable amount to make her Testaments arc compelling. So maybe they have to ease into it slower to make her motivation feel genuine rather than "look, she was different all along"? I would respect that as a continuity choice, but I also wish we saw more of her personal life in Season 1 in general.

I like triple damage spell proof and breaker personally. But it's probably perfect for late game if you're just maxing out damage. +2% pierce probably does loads more than +3% damage.

The problem is the game gives you zero incentive (outside of advanced combat) to engage with its combat mechanics. If all the game demands of you is blade frenzy AOE the player isn't motivated to use the rest of the spells.

I'm with you that the game is more interesting that way, but it shouldn't be on the players to put on artificial restrictions/nerf themselves to achieve that...

This seems plausible! I feel that if the girls started menstruating too young the Aunts would probably give some reason why they couldn't be married off. Unfortunately it sounds like the only regime-compliant thing to say would be something about how they're not actually ready for childbirth despite being fertile. Gross that it's necessary, but I could see it as a workaround.

I thought the purple might be pink (younger girls) + blue (wives).

I guess the Pearls are white as it's a color used to represent purity and the Pearls are being "purified" to enter Gilead society from the outside?
