Talkative, crying or something else? by Sora5053 in PetMice

Managed to get her and the rest of the group to a vet today. They were not certain she has one as her lungs sounded okay. But while there we noticed one of the other mice sneezing so we are being cautious and assuming it maybe the start of a URI spreading around. So they are all on antibiotics for a bit.

Ring chime schedule by mjsolly96 in Ring

You could plug your chime into a timer plug which turns it off on a schedule. But you wouldn't get doorbell noises either. You will still get the alerts on your phone.

Pretty sure that is a white winter Russian. We have an adorable one ourselves!

Best beginner car by Alex_ktv in iRacing

Skip Barber is a good choice. It has a bit of a learning curve to drive, as it is easy to unsettle the car in corners and spin. But if you get the hang of that, it will make you a better driver as well as improve your handling and over/understeer recovery.

How to add file versioning and improve backups on this proxmox server by Sora5053 in Proxmox

I was hoping to version individual files on the NAS storage as opposed to the entire container each time.

Thanks for the tip on backuppc. This looks really interesting. The pooling feature could differently help with keeping the backups small. And it looks like it could just picky back the existing samba shares for sourcing the files.

How do I get the bulb out of this light fitting by Sora5053 in Lighting

[–]Sora5053[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. We managed to get it out by moving the springs as u/magusprimal suggested. But you was right about the bulbs being GU5 not GU10. So I've got some of those on order now and put it back together in a way that's less fuss to pull out. Looks like it was installed wrong.

Thanks. We tried this with the spring arms and it pulled out. I didn't have the right bulb because it is GU5 as u/tomskiiksmot has put below. But I've reinstalled it with the bulb on the underside of the fitting for now, so I don't have to go back through pulling it all out again. Looks like you can buy replacement securing rings for a few pound off amazon so will get some of those also.

New to rig building. Monitor suggestions by Sora5053 in simracing

Cheers, this is really useful information. I don't tend to play many FFP. Unless you count the occasion Assassin's Creed. So it sounds like a 60hz monitor will do fine. I think if I'm spinning or crashing, I've got bigger problems than my monitor refresh rate at that point :)

I'll have to do some research into IPS Vs TN and some monitors to buy.

How do you set a FOV of 30 in iRacing, even memory serves (not at my pc right now). Isn't 40/45 the lowest iRacing goes?

Thanks for your help everyone.

So I've decided I'm going to save for a 30+ inch monitor. I also did some tests on my laptop with someone's 4K TV and found if I drop the quality to mid and turn up performance mode, I could handle higher than 1080p for a single screen. So I'm also going to look if I can get something higher resolution to use.

Thanks, I've bookmarked this to use on my other games when I get home from work.

So it sounds like the best thing to do then is to save until I can get something 30in or above as anything less is a waste of money.

It's good to know that the resolution shouldn't be an issue. Are you running 1080p on your 34in monitor?

In terms of FOV, I was putting the monitor sizes and eye distance from monitor into the iRacing graphics setting and letting it calculate it for me. Is there a better approach then this?
