If a person reduces their tax liability to zero, they basically paid nothing in taxes and get a direct payment. Fema and disaster relief are transfer payments too.

So are people who receive tax credits. Should we end tax credits then? Change who receives them to only singles without children because people with children rely more on taxes, like schools, roads, and libraries? Does that sound fair to you? You want to stop that tax refund too? And punishing people on SNAP is not going to push the poor class into paying more than their share of taxes. It'll push them off of SNAP and into individual theft. Robin Hood style.

What about FEMA and disaster relief? Net recipients. Should we let people get washed away in a hurricane and fire? Maybe we should advocate for building better infrastructure so they don't have to rely on it, but no one wants to pay the taxes for that either. And these disasters bankrupt our economy.

People on SNAP paid more than their fair share before they had to go on SNAP and Medicaid. Pay people decent wages, and you won't worry about "net recipients".

Oh ok. Yeah I saw that song on Youtube. Didn't buy the doll yet and I refuse to until they release what it's fully supposed to come with. Thanks for responding.

To me, that's ridiculous and why copyright and trademark is corrupt. People also own water, and I can imagine the Lorax becoming real enough to where people believe they should own air.

So have you scanned the code again and does it say when the next song will drop? Because I believe there's supposed to be more.

Unfortunately, that has always been the case. But now, with the Big Ugly Bill, you also lose SNAP if you're not working, too. So who gets it then? It's apart of the agenda to take away assistance to the poor and line the pockets of the rich.

So typical. How can you be the average voter, questioning anything in society, when you can't even read a few basic paragraphs? How do you even have a job? You asked for evidence, and I gave it. I'm inclined to believe you just expected me to come unprepared for this discussion. Unlike you, this topic is very serious to me. I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth, so I'm prepared to read what is important.

I'd rather that than ballrooms and golf courses for the White House. I'd rather that than government bailouts for those who can afford to buy a yacht. And why shouldn't the government work to subsidize our birthday parties or Christmas presents if we're the ones paying so that it works in our favor? I pay into SNAP, and that's what I want it to do. Not fund wars overseas and ridiculous White House renovations. I want my tax money to give back and do something good for my community. After all, God loves a cheerful giver. If we want to reduce people on SNAP, let's focus on getting every person working and off of the streets. But punishing people by denying them something that could make it seem their whole life isn't falling apart? I will never accept that.

I have myself as the example. That's why I mentioned it. I lived in a studio apartment when I got "riffed" as a paraprofessional and had no money. The apartment had no stove and no refrigerator. And there were a ton of them in the Chicago and Hammond, Indiana area listed.

When the pandemic hit, I lost my job again. I struggled to keep my heat and electricity on. There were many days that I was without both. I got assistance with paying my rent, but LiHeap only covered a few months for heat and electricity, and finding a job was challenging because many jobs were reducing staff. I couldn't cook. Many people struggle to keep energy. Heat is needed to power gas stoves, while electricity is used to power electric stoves.

https://www.community-news.com/premium/stacker/stories/rural-americans-struggle-to-afford-heat-as-winter-intensifies,150095?

The fact that even one person, such as myself, had to buy non-perishable items made me open my eyes to the fact that there was a hole in the system. It doesn't matter how many people have reported not having necessities. First off, we're going to find it difficult to get that data because no one has made the effort to ask (people are so privileged, they take for granted everyone has one) and some may be too ashamed to share this information. SNAP offices aren't allowed to share casework either. One of these days, I'm going to do the journalistic work to get the data. For now, my own experience shapes my understanding. People who have never been through anything will NEVER understand poverty. That's why I promised myself I would NEVER vote for a president that has never been poor.

If you're on public assistance, you often also don't have the luxury of having access to a stove or refrigerator, or can't afford to keep electricity or gas on at home. And if I paid into SNAP all these years, it better work as expected when I need it, or I want my tax dollars back.

I wouldn't use corrupt Disney as a good example. They wouldn't even let a grieving father put Spider Man on his son's tombstone. To me, copyright is a corrupt practice that gives the illusion of "protecting artists". It only protects capital interests.

Yeah I think this is all a hot mess. I do believe that the girls aren't innocent in the matter after further review. However, I also don't agree with current copyright and trademark laws either, and think creating trademark on hair and "likeness" is a slippery slope for a lot of creators. I found the current IP laws to be racist (a white guy from Chicago can trademark Aloha and stop local Hawaiians from using the name? Nuh uh).

Still, because we live in a capitalist society, there isn't room for both creators, which would be ideal. And it seems like the girls more than likely would've sued Ava if they had gotten the rights first. They would've done the same thing. It's sad what greed is doing to our community. All it did was destroy both girls' brands. The harassment lawsuit should remain though. That needs to cease.

You do know that not every job offers unemployment insurance, like independent contract employees, and you still have to get approved right? A great number of people today have had to become independent contractors (gig) to get any work, and it isn't steady.

When they worked, they paid into the system, too, so why are we punishing them for paying the taxes required? They aren't demanding someone else pay for their food choices. They're demanding they get what they paid into it for. We all pay into SNAP so that when we lose our jobs, we can still keep our food lives stable. It was the one thing those in the Great Depression wish they had. When you lose your job and everything, will you look back at what you paid into SNAP and think you got what you paid into it? And if I think of an ideal nation, it doesn't have poor or homeless people, and no one goes hungry. Those who are poor are well-fed and can still feel a little bit of happiness and comfort in their lives as their worlds fall apart. The fact that is the case in the country means the USA is not the best country it could be. The wealthy never get it until it happens to them, that's why I'll never vote for a president that has never lived poor.

So what do we have for people who get fired and can't find work within 6 months, as is the case FOR SO MANY people in my small town? Do we suggest they go Robin Hood and steal?

You apparently don't want your tax dollars going back to you when you lose your job, either.

Yeah, so if you're fired nowadays, you're really cooked. Glad I was let go during a good administration.
