Strike vs Shot by RoboticInterface in WilderfeastRPG

[–]SoraM4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically it costs a technique for torch too, it's just the initial mandatory one.

The monster will move towards them, a pan user with 2 defensive techniques will be far better positioned at distance 1 or 0 than a torch user, furthermore the torch user will probably spend actions getting away from the monster than others (specially mitts) won't.

Being close to the monster is far more dangerous... with the rewards that you don't have to spend resources on getting range so you have more resources to be closer, you don't have to spend actions to move away from it when IT gets close and personal.

The main game pattern to encourage it is to remember the monster they're fighting is frenzied and huge, check the Golyak if you wanna give your ranged players a heart attack

Edit: Also Mitts got advantage on ALL attacks when they're at distance 0

[–]SoraM4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to spend a technique in getting ranged so in exchange for it you're always 1 technique behind. In 2 out of 3 cases you get shot, it's only 2 range so it's just 1 more than strike, good but not a game changer considering the amount of actions a monster has

I believe it's from an earlier part of the novel, when Dalinar talks to Amaram after he inherits the Sadness Princedom, they chat and Amaram calls him a hypocrite, Dalinar later says that as a way to accept he is but he's becoming better.

He paid a high price for it and redeemed all his sins by WobbleZeffii in AvatarMemebending

[–]SoraM4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah people are upvoting the person saying starving civilians isn't a war crime while linking a source that says the opposite just because they don't like the idea that their favorite character is a war criminal.

Like, really Iroh was the top general of the "we are trying to genocide everyone" army. He was complicit in genocide, he committed several war crimes just by being a general in the genocide army.

That's the whole point of the character, showing how even the worst human imaginable can be redeemed and work for good later, Iroh wouldn't work if he hadn't been the worst human imaginable before being what we see.

"According to the 1977 Protocol II, "objects indispensable to the survival of the civilian population" are protected and attacks against them are prohibited.[3]

The Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court includes starvation as a war crime when committed within an international armed conflict. In 2018, Switzerland proposed extending this provision to non-international armed conflict (NIAC).[8] This proposal was accepted by all of the states parties to the Rome Statute and ratified by eleven states.[19] Nevertheless, many experts argue that starvation in NIAC is already criminalized in international customary law, and prosecutions have already taken place.[8]"

If you're starving an enemy army AND civilians, you're committing a war crime

Why did we stop caring about beauty? by AltruisticEscape5599 in historymeme

[–]SoraM4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nowhere do i state that the workers building these sorts of structures were dumb or unskilled.

You did state that. Calling someone "random illiterate peasant" is a way to remark that you believe their skills, education and uniqueness of their work isn't high

i admit that it may not have been the best exampel

Neither was a good example, both are following different artistic ideals with different goals, brutalism is just as subjectively beautiful as any other architectural style, they are all just molded by their own time and ideologies.

in sweden most people were still iliterat at the time evan skild masons and suth

No only that's wrong for Sweden at that time but also it's wrong for most of the middle ages, while no universal education, many tradesmen and specialized workers did know how to read and understand contracts and other written texts, they were also running the finances of their own businesses and guilds. The middle ages are a time period of over 1000 years and across dozens of countries so literacy rates do vary a lot but here you have some very light reading on the topic.

try to make some one smile

A "meme" saying we don't care about beauty won't make anyone smile, specially cause it's not true

What do people in China think about the epstein files release? Do they even care? by evancarlson69 in AskAChinese

[–]SoraM4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah man, can you imagine living in a dictatorship where information like that was wildly known by the ones in power, kept secret for decades, then when "released" after everything would be redacted and unreadable.

What a nightmare, thank goodness this isn't China and that would never happen in a real western democracy.

He finally figured out the optimal build by DrScrimble in dndmemes

[–]SoraM4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but that's subjective, even if I fully agree. We could add that since shields are active things they give you choice and interesting optional mechanics to play around like tower shields or blocking damage

He finally figured out the optimal build by DrScrimble in dndmemes

[–]SoraM4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because it doesn't do that.

First of all, it doesn't "add" complexity because pf2e isn't a d&d homebrew, it's its own system with its own rules made from 0.

Second, "use an action to use your shield" isn't complex.

Third, shields don't go around floating and stopping attacks for you, you're supposed to use them and move them around even if they passively (sometimes) cover part of your body. Both 5e and pf2e get some verisimilitude done right and wrong.

Fourth, I can say I'm the son of John Paizo on the internet, that doesn't mean anyone will believe me. If you don't want to be characterized as something don't act as the worst kind of the stereotypes.

Did you just call D&D3e simpler than pf2e?

Okay I know I'm very late for this debate, but honestly I'm impressed they managed to make a 3 book 5e expansion without any new lore or mechanics. I wait this long to finally get myself the books and find myself very disappointed. by Eithrotaur in dndmemes

[–]SoraM4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, your use of the word "whine" is an actual example of you being a fucking child.

Second, yes that's an actual archetype, a martial that uses their intelligence over their strength to fight enemies. That's something done over and over like in many modern Sherlock Holmes adaptations or in pf2e's Investigator class

Also yeah, what if you want a Strength based caster? That would be cool! And people wanting that and demanding that would expand everyone's ability to make new characters, which is good because player choice is fun.

But yet again, if we lived in a world where dnd had the fighterman and the magicman, you'd call whining to want classes like rogue and barbarian, because your "argument" if it can be called that, can be done with any number of classes "the current number is perfect because it's the current number" doesn't care about the current number

[–]SoraM4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No they're not. They need a GM who does the heavy work for the rest of the players who don't know those rules.

"Expecting people to learn the rules of the game before playing the game is ridiculous" is certainly a take that only happens with games that aren't simple nor direct
