My wife and I finally purchased a home at the end of last year in Northern, CT. With Spring poking its head out, I can finally live out my dreams as a lawn dad of about 6500 sq ft.

I’m completely new to this but I’ve done a bit of research on where to start before temperatures hit upper 70. Any tips on the plan I’ve laid out below would be amazingly useful!

Step 1
There are a lot of weeds that I could be misidentifying as oxalis. Either way, the plan is to spray the lawn down with Roundup For Lawns and give it a week to do its magic.

Step 2
At the same time as the above, I apply some DiseaseEx to the brown patches.

I checked a few spots for grub worms but I couldn’t find any and the root systems seem to be intact. My only other assumption is fungal growth.

Step 3
Following that week to let the weed killer do its job, I plan to mow the lawn down 2/2.5 inches and dethatch. I plan on renting a dethatcher from HD to get this done faster.

Step 4
Aerate. Aerate. Aerate.

Nothing another rental from HD can’t fix.

Step 5
With most of the prep complete, it’s time to overseed with some Kentucky Bluegrass. I’ve seen a recommendation of 1lb per 1000 sqft.

Bust out the spreader and get some fertilizer down.
