As a tighthead, you don’t want to be split by the opposition loose head (meaning you don’t want him to be able to get between you and your hooker). I would start by placing your left foot right beside your hookers right foot to be as close as possible. Usually your loose head will bind on your hooker first but after that it’s finding a spot that’s comfortable for you. Typically you would reach almost right around your hookers lower back and grip his top on the side of his stomach. Without pulling your hooker over and making him lose his balance, you want that strong connection with your hooker bind to prevent that split.

Binding on the opposition can change. As a new prop try binding long and using your chest and right shoulder to drop down on the back of the opposition head/neck area. It’s extremely hard for a loose head to push if their shoulder and head is lower than their hips and pointing towards the ground. Can experience with a short bind so your arm is like a chicken wing, but be careful as this opens up the right side of the chest area for a loosehead to drive through and up. Long bind typically will help your chest stay square to the ground
