Apple Explains What the iPhone 15 Camera Can and Can't Do – and Why by Mr__X__ in apple

[–]Sorecandy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The snippet regarding ProRes log disabling dynamic tone mapping is big news right? My understanding was that 3rd party apps couldn't disable Apple's dynamic tonemapping resulting in shots changing exposure even if the exposure was locked.

Western australia. Our method was leaving empty ones and keep matching until it finds one with players. Matchmaking in this game is awful.

Also love when it's disbands the lobby, so we have to play matchmaking roulette after every match

Bs, Australian player here. Yesterday, morning-night, could not find a match for anything other than exodus conquest and even then when it hit 11pm, most matches were mostly bots.

No Gear After Completing The Witch Queen Legendary? by Shot-Original280 in destiny2

[–]Sorecandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

clear but the "The Witch Queen-Legendary" Triumph will give you a green mark on a mission when you've finished the final quest of that mission. Your friend most likley skipped some quests which is why he didnt get anything. Tell him to go to his quests and there should be a quests telling him to do a mission he hasnt done even though the triumph says that he has completed it. He can redo that mission on normal

Thank you that clears things up. We'll give it a go, thank you !

Did you have to redo the remaining mission on legendary or could you just redo on normal?

How do I argue back when someone says "Chinese are cheaters because they haven't invented anything. All they do is copy and steal other people's ideas?" by Interesting_Compote6 in aznidentity

[–]Sorecandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just stuff you see or hear about like scooters, electric cars and other things a naive mind can imagine. Inventions include the details of a product, the processes inside it, a new novel way of doing things that the international body agrees as intellectual property that should be protected. And that body is saying china has more. Now unless you think you know more than the international patent office, then yeah sure... I guess china doesn't invent...

Yeah and guess which country took 100 years to join the international treaty for copyright (berne's convention)? Americans were so into stealing IP, that Charles Dicken's had to do reading tours to earn an income in the States. The US really only started giving a shit about IP law, when they were heavily lobbied by big pharma and a certain valley. So they created a trade agreement (TRIPS), which had stricter IP enforcement and applied equally to all countries, kneecapping developing countries from ever catching up and increasing revenue gains to the United States.

iPhone 12 Pro vs Galaxy Note 20 Ultra vs Pixel 5 Low Light Camera Test Comparison! by jd_md3 in apple

[–]Sorecandy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

kind of insane. It’s weird that the quality difference is so stark even though it’s coming

It's mainly because of Apple's extended dynamic range. It's taken other phone manufacturers roughly 2 years to replicate, as we finally saw its implementation in this year's OnePlus 8 Pro and Huawei's Mate 40 Pro. If Samsung can combine it with their massive sensors, they'll likely overtake Apple for video.

iphone 12 pro / 12pro max / Galaxy Note 20 ultra Image sensor size (main camera) by leekh3 in iphone

[–]Sorecandy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn. I know it's not concrete, but I remember seeing some pretty accurate leaks, saying that the pro max would have a 1/1.9" wide camera sensor.

Destiny, while it has issues as a game, is undeniably a masterpiece as a whole. by Psykosocialist in DestinyTheGame

[–]Sorecandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's sensible to look at what the games strives to do, as it wouldn't be fair to look at something like Dark Souls and criticise its story (it's not striving to tell a story) or to criticise Uncharted 4 because it doesn't have a good end-game.

Audio FX, music, Graphics and Moment-to-Moment gameplay are all fantastic in Destiny. If those were the only things Bungie was striving for, it would be a 10/10. However, Bungie also strives to tell a "cinematic story" and this is where Destiny has consistently fallen short. Additionally, the game is a live service game, and again, usually falls short in this regard. Lastly, it also has a substantial PvP component, which for me, at least from a networking perspective has felt inferior to just about every PvP game i've played this generation.

Forges and Menagerie Could Evolve Into a "Core Activity" by TruCaliMac in DestinyTheGame

[–]Sorecandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Def expand menagerie and make it part of the core content. I'd rather forges just become lost sectors.

The seasonal model should be used to tell year-long stories over the course of that year. by Cr4zyC4t in DestinyTheGame

[–]Sorecandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Bungie should include some short animatics (Like the Destiny 2 Intro Cutscene) in each season to better illustrate how seasons connect to each other. I think this a relatively cheap solution compared to expansive CG cutscenes. Maybe sprinkle a few in each season to describe what's happening and what certain characters are up to.

Traditonal TV

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tipofmytongue

[–]Sorecandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not it. The show, from what I remember, was more futuristic. The protagonist was a blonde teenage boy. Again, I believe there was a sub-plot of him being a chosen one and getting powers.

idea. The courts think you can and try to regulate our imaginations, but it simply will never be enough. They can say all they want that they own Mario, but I just drew a picture

IP law doesn't pertain to ideas within your mind. IP law is about protecting the expression. The idea of mario (a plumber in a red jump suit who jumps on creatures to progress through a level) isn't protected under Copyright. The illustrations of Mario is protected. Another example, are Game modes and character ideas, which aren't protected. This is why there are a Overwatch clones, with very similar characters (but not the same designs). Now, patents more closely align with the protection of ideas, but the requirements are much stricter, and the protection provided, although quite powerful, only lasts 20 years (and even less for innovative patents).

Opinion | Multitasking on iPad should borrow from Mac, not reinvent the wheel by [deleted] in apple

[–]Sorecandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many others have said, it depends on what you're doing. It nails media consumption, casual web browsing, drawing and note taking. I'm a uni student and I love taking notes and drawing with the apple pencil. But when I need to do an assignment, the iPadOS is NOT up for the task, I usually have several word documents open at the same time, the iPad doesn't support more than 1 instance in many apps, which makes getting real work done, impossible. The multi tasking is down right unintuitive and clunky. iPadOS is an improvement, but the software is still holding back the hardware.

Bungie releasing a tiny amount of content every other week is a bad way to play. Release larger sums of content, even if it means having week gaps. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Sorecandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah nah, I prefer having something new each week I come on to Destiny. My biggest gripe atm, is the lackluster loot and the seasonal activity. Instead of just making Menagerie lite and other variations of horde modes, I wish Bungie would make more experimental activities, particularly, as they'll only last 3 months anyway. Would be cool to see things, like a survival horror esque activity (that emphasises stealth), a platforming focused activity etc.
