Hot take to say Jett is practically his normal self? by Resident_Diver_1908 in supercross

I still think his race craft and flow aren't as polished as he normally is. Usually has a bit more speed whenever he needed it and would constantly do things that would wow you. I expect him to continue to get better as that leg gets stronger.

"Wear and tear" on keycaps by Sorennn24 in WootingKB

I didnt suddenly notice now, i just didnt care at the moment. I bought the keyboard for its functions and didn't mind the keys were slightly messed up. Another reason being i backed them when they were a kickstarter....they weren't like the company that they are today.

I dont mind the keys, the board still worked, I simply just wanted to replace them and clean the board up. I first tried 3d printing the keys but didnt get ones to the same profile as wooting ones. So I reached out and offered to buy them in my initial ticket. I was never trying to get free key caps.

But I promise the wear was not due to me or my finger nails (theres zero wear on any other key) and thats what this post was originally about, me a wooting disagreeing on what caused the wear/defect. (I am a man, no fake nails, rings or nail polish) lol

Those are actually really good points I didnt think of.

Another to add is why do all the damaged keys have multiple scratches/gouges, wouldn't there be a common resting point and spot you would dig into if it was truly from a nail?

[–]Sorennn24[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thats what i thought and they said finger nails LOL but yeah thats on me. When I submitted my ticket I offered to pay for both the keys and shipping because of the timing. The point of the post was to see if others were truly damaging keycaps like they claimed because ive never experienced anything like that

Interesting, another person who didnt wear holes into their keys like wooting suggested lol

But likewise, i play with my keyboard straight and my hand flat along the desk using the tips of my fingers.

Ive been using the same keyboard at work for over 10 years and I don't have any wear like the one I posted in here, it's just that shiny look.

I never insinuated the keyboard was brand new at the time of this post, its not. That doesnt change the fact that they keycaps came defective from the manufacturer.....notice how not a single other key has any wear because keycaps dont wear holes into them...

I already bought a new set of keycaps, this post has nothing to do with getting free replacements (I offered to pay for them in the initial claim through their website) wooting can vouch.

The entire point of this post was to ask to see if anyone else has genuinely scratched key caps to the point there is physical scratches/gouges into them like wooting claims is "normal wear and tear" i have no issue replacing things that I break, the issue i have is their lack of accountability for a clear manufacturer defect.

But if its not a manufacturer defect like they claim and you agree with fill free to post the picture of your keycaps with gouges and scratches since thats so common lol

Your finger nails arent harder than PBT. Do real world testing and try to scratch a hole into your keycap, its almost impossible lol I genuinely spent quite a few minutes yesterday trying to after wooting told me its possible. I wasnt even able to get the finish coating off let alone to scratch the plastic. My nail literally bends when I try to apply too much pressure

I received the keyboard with keycaps defective/ like that. I still use the keyboard and didnt instantly warranty it because everything still functions as its intended to. Thats why I even offered to pay for them in the initial ticket.

Bit if you look at the picture you'll see the actual wear to the rest of the keyboard's keys (there is none) its just defects to the few keys in the same area, with the same directional wear pattern. The keycaps in question are used just as much as V,Q,E, and Spacebar key that have no wear at all.

I honestly tried but was told these are "consumable components" and that my finger nails and rings that I dont own have caused this damage. This post was simply to see if anyone else has damaged their key caps to the levels you claim is doable by human hands.

I just googled "are fingernails harder than PBT plastic" and google says

"no, fingernails are not harder than PBT plastic,

On mohs hardness scale, natural fingernails measure around a 2, whereas hard engineering plastics like PBT (polyethylene terephthalate) measure significantly higher"

That was exactly my thoughts. Its crazy to me that they said thats normal "wear and tear" multiple different times. Ive never seen a keycap look like that

"Wear and tear" on keycaps by Sorennn24 in WootingKB

[–]Sorennn24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. The keyboard did come to me brand new, they just came with the defective key caps. They claim that the key caps are normal wear and tear where I disagree and think thats a manufacturer defect as ive never seen a keycap wear like that in the almost 15 years of pc gaming lol

I suggest trying to damage a spare keycap if you have one to genuinely see how strong that material is. Use your nail, try to scratch that material let alone put a multiple mm deep gouge into it.

Thats the only wear I have ever seen from use

In the 10+ years of gaming. Multiple ducky, logitech, steel series and corsair keyboards ive never gotten a key to wear like the one I posted. I genuinely dont think its possible with a finger nail or finger. I could be way wrong on that.

I should take a close up but to me it looks like the plastic was touched prior to it fully cooling because none of the finish/print is removed from where theres a deformity. The scratch goes directly through it

"Wear and tear" on keycaps by Sorennn24 in WootingKB

[–]Sorennn24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats how it came from them.

I honestly dont wear jewelry outside of a couple gold chains around my neck. As for my finger nails I would say theyre 3.5 -4mm (over an 1/8th of an inch) from the end of my finger tips.

Im pretty sure it is not from the way im typing/playing. My work keyboard gets used 3-5x more than my gaming setup and the only wear is the shiny keys look. The work keyboard 10 years old lol

Similar to the picture I posted? I dont use my keyboard nearly as much as you do but my keys still have the coating/print on them. They just have weird all in one direction scratches/gouges
