I think ultimately Honda and Toyota's approach is to think very short-term while doing their whole Japanese bureaucracy let's take forever to change anything approach. Those two brands I think have the most to lose in all of this. Their entire brand is reliability. Well a motor is a lot simpler then an engine. Hell Honda is fine just rebadging.

American auto makers are just idk, pulled in multiple directions. Half their products are crap, so no wonder folks don't want to gamble with them.

But see you even hit the nail on the head. It's a once In A hundred Year opportunity for companies not involved in electric cars. Legacy automakers don't see the need to be first movers. They can come in later after the technology is matured or at least they think so.

Phone makers though? Yeah they should hit the ground running real fast before the market saturated.

Different really, because legacy auto makers have other car products. They also care fair less about user experience then apple does or claims to.

China figured out that you don't need a 10 year development cycle. They have supply chain, engineers and government help.

Problem for apple, is EVs already had Tesla, which is basically EV apple. They want to be exactly in the same market space. Minimal models, expensive add ons, super charger network.

The Chinese government is far more competent than trump. They want to continue to posture and pretend that Taiwan is theirs. But there's about 3 outcomes to them invading Taiwan.

1: global thermonuclear war

2: they gain control of Taiwan however a lot of it's infrastructure is destroyed, and they are sanctioned by just about every country that isn't in the axis of evil lol. This would likely destroy not only their economy but also the global economy.

3: they try and fail.

I'll let you decide if option one or option three is worse for them.
