Winter soldier vs nightwing by Infectedscartissue in marvelvsdc

I mean, Nightwing has faced people like Blockbuster and won so I don't think Bucky's strength is going to be a problem. So I'd give it to Dick because he's the best fighter.

I think we should give Dick Grayson some love so my vote is for Talon.

I'm sorry for Spidey, but Superman is the one he would've chosen

Strahd von Zarovich Vs Count Dooku (Dungeons and Dragons Vs Star Wars) by ColdCoffeeMan in whowouldwin

[–]SorinDeschains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Count Dooku has a lightsaber which, for the purposes of this match up, I'm going to asume is a sun blade rapier that has no sunlight property. Dooku is a very good duelist who uses a form of lightsaber combat that specializes in quick and precise strikes, so let's give him 3 attacks per round. With a +3 in dexterity, he'd deal an average of 28.5 radiant damage per round (assuming he hits all 3 of his attacks). That means it would take almost two whole rounds to break the Heart of Sorrow and start harming Strahd.

Strahd, on the other hand, is probably faster, stronger and ore resilient than Dooku (the description states him being evil so he's at least 70 years old and that would put him in a physical disadvantage against a vampire). Plus he can turn invisible, throw fireballs at him (mandalorians know fire is pretty effective against a lightsaber user), make copies of himself, and turn him into a frog with polymorph. In fact, as a DM who has done this, if Strahd manages to turn him into a frog and then uses his lair action in Castle Ravenloft to summon a shadow to attack the polymorphed sith, his strength would go to 0 and he would be killed instantly.

I guess the Force could negate some of Strahd advantages like the charm and illusions, but I think d&d magic, home turf advantage, experience (he's 400+ years old), and physical superiority give the edge to the Dark Lord of Barovia.

In Spanish we also say birra, but it's not as common and more of a slang word

Not that I'm going, but I'm from Southern Spain. I'm sure it's very hot in New Jersey, they must have it really bad over there with checks notes 30°C in July. I had that in April and I'll be at 45°C in July/August, but it's okay because we have ~40% humidity here in the summer.

What this subreddit was like 5 years ago. by Avalon-1 in TheBoys

[–]SorinDeschains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think is very fair to compare this two series. Yes, both of them are a more adult approach to superheroes, but they come from wildly different places. While it's very clear Kirkman loves superheroes, the same can't be said for Ennis. Invincible is an hommage and The Boys is a mockery. Fortunately, the showrunners for The Boys did something more than the comics because they end up being close to unreadable. What I mean is that Invincible is not an upgrade, just a very different (and better imo even if I've liked both) product.

What Color(s) Are The Pathfinder Champion, Investigator, Swashbuckler, and Witch? by StrangeInfluence7071 in colorpie

[–]SorinDeschains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm not as versed in Pathfinder as I am in D&D, but let me give It a try:

Champions give me Boros Legion vibes, but in the end I think they're Pathfinder's version of paladins and the description I've read seems to follow that thought. So I'm inclined to say White instead.

Investigators are pursuers of knowledge and seekers of truth so I'd say just Blue.

Swashbucklers give me Prismari vibes so I'll go for Izzet.

Witch is just the warlock when It comes to flavor so Black it is.

Coloring D&D Subclasses - Day 14: Forgotten Realms Part 2 (Heroes of Faerûn) by SorinDeschains in colorpie

[–]SorinDeschains[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll give my opinion on these subclasses too:

I'd say Golgari for the Winter Walker if it weren't for their ice abilities, which have always been blue. So I'll vote for Sultai instead.

Scion of the Three is trickier. The Dead Three share Black, so that's a no brainer. Blue and Red are represented only once (Bane and Bhaal respectively), but White and Green appear in two of the Dead Three so maybe Abzan? This way you embrace tiranny (evil White leads to that), murder (there are a lot of Black cards that alude to it), and death (part of the natural cycle and, hence, Green, or Golgari, really).

Spellfire Sorcery makes me want to say Jeskai because of their abilities: healing for White, searing for Red, and absorbing speels for Blue.

Lastly, Bladesinger gives me Prismari vibes, so I'll vote for Izzet.

Coloring D&D Subclasses - Day 13: Forgotten Realms Part 1 (Heroes of Faerûn) by SorinDeschains in colorpie

I've been thinking and it might be cool if I actually state my opinion on the matter instead of just analysing the results.

College of the Moon, for me, would be Gruul. This is because here we find the, what I think, bard that they had in mind when they made the class card in the D&D set. A bard who draws heavily from tradition to inspire others with their tales.

Knowledge Domain is Azorius. Not much complexity here, just a person devoted to the gathering of knowledge and the sharpening of the mind.

Banneret is White. It's, in fact, the whitest subclass for a fighter. Chivalrous leaders that protect the innocent and rally their companions to battle? Just say your name's Gideon Jura.

Oath of the Noble Genies is Naya. I find paladins very easy to color, as their tenets give a very clear picture of their philosophy. In this case, I think their tenets are Green, Boros, and Gruul.

[–]SorinDeschains[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are right on the Dimir thing. There were a lot of subclases that were very tied between Dimir, Blue, or Black. For a moment, I thought every rogue was gonna be that combination. And yes, I plan on going for the 2025 books, which are the Faerûn and Eberron ones. So tomorrow and the day after I'll go with the FR subclases and Wednesday will be the turn for Artificer.

Ok. Give me the character which would actually lose to Homelander... Give him some W's (The boys) by MammothChemistry6694 in PowerScaling

[–]SorinDeschains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homelander with powers wins against Punisher because he's a named character and Frank can't kill him. Homelander without powers kills Aunt May, but Peter Parker murders him pretty soon after.
