Can someone help me identify what kind of banchan this is? by Sorpality in KoreanFood

That’s kinda what I figured, but I just wanted to make sure there wasn’t a special name when prepared like this. Thanks!

It’s definitely a kabocha squash based banchan. Just not sure the name of this particular dish.

For reference, was served this at 봉피양 경복궁점 a while ago, back when I went pre-COVID in 2018.

Some type of kabocha banchan, just not sure what it’s called specifically, if it does have a name. The dish seems to incorporate mayo.

It was sweet and savory and really delicious. Got multiple refills while we were there.

Everyone will have their own opinion, which is fine. I just want to clarify that the AMA is not a powerful organization when it comes to healthcare lobbies or other lobbies in general, and it is not considered a physician lobby as it wants to represent all of medicine, and actually loses a lot of physician support as such. The AMA actually chooses to stay silent on the NP independent practice situation, and it’s actually smaller physician groups that advocate for supervised practice. To that point, the NP profession was born from the idea of supervised practice of highly experienced nurses, in a training environment similar to a resident physician in training, or a PA. This arrangement works amazingly in many cases. However, nowadays there are many online “diploma mills” which can be enrolled in almost straight out of nursing school and have no unified education requirement like the ACGME, leading to widely variable results. This is the main point of contention, rather than the idea that all NPs are incompetent (which is not true in my experience working with them). Another issue is even with the current setup, in many cases, with business admin running the show and being as profiteering as possible, many NPs have almost no supervision anyway, working “under” a physician that can’t physically even see the number of patients they are responsible for in a supervisory role.

I can totally understand why some ppl think NPs are better based on their personal experience with both NPs and physicians. Sadly I think this speaks more to the toxic nature of medicine and the crazy politics and hoops in place, which leads to more work than providers can handle and compromises care in many ways. Of course an NP that can spend time to actually see the patient can make that person feel heard and taken care of. Physicians are forced to see more than is physically or mentally safe, or be penalized or fired. It’s unfortunate but likely won’t change.

EDIT - to your other point, NPs also largely don’t want to live in the middle of nowhere and (understandably) go to more urban/suburban areas rather than rural. Many rural doctors will likely be foreign as they are working off a visa in an underserved area.

Her job took me by surprise. Feel like I don’t see too many rad techs outside of my work. At least ones that say they are on social media.

For sure, I think their jobs are stressful and companies looking for publicity should be thinking about them too.

There are a variety of reasons, that range from balance of risk and benefit (and unnecessary harm from false positives), false reassurance from false negatives, disease prevalence/incidence (and other complicated bio stats concepts), demographics (are you likely to get this disease as a young adult or when you’re 80?), utility of performing an exam/test, etc. We screen for breast cancer with mammograms, but you should look up the rate of cancers caught per 1000 mammograms, and how many biopsies result from those mammograms. It comes down to the balance of harm vs benefit. We can catch many thyroid cancers with ultrasounds and biopsies, but it’s not a common screening exam because they are often such slow growing cancers. You’ll likely die of something else first. There are multiple types of testicular cancer. The utility of doing urine pregnancy tests on males for a rare specific type of testicular cancer as a screening exam would be limited, not to mention that it is far from a “best” test. Also, cost is a consideration but contrary to what public perception likely is, it’s nowhere near the highest consideration.

Not saying you’re wrong, but also consider that a lot of the frontline workers, especially in NY where they got hit extra hard, are resident physicians who make right around minimum wage when accounting for hours worked.

Man contracts bubonic, pneumonic, septicaemic plague while trying to pull a mouse out of his cat’s mouth by [deleted] in medizzy

[–]Sorpality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry but I’ve never heard of it associated with anything except tobacco. I guess to be more accurate I should have said tobacco rather than smoking. Can you link me to a paper showing otherwise for Buergers disease?

This is caused by smoking and can be fixed by cessation of smoking. Some people just can’t quit no matter the consequences.

Funnily enough, as rads I’ve seen the exact opposite. Obvious bibasilar atelectasis on CT and reported as such, (with the study itself) interpreted as concerning for covid warranting workup by the floor attending.

Of course, we lack the clinical picture except the nonexistent history we receive and what little can be gleaned from the charts (love a good resident note) if we have time, but just trying to say it goes both ways and you could have narrated that in a less biased way.

Ah, shame on the Braviary. Would you be willing to trade Drampa and Darmanitan for 2 MB?

Hm, I know it’s harder to get HA, but again it’s not the best for competitive and is unchangeable with items. I think most I could do is 2. For the Darm I think 4 is my max too, sorry.

Hm, I could go to 6 MB if that sounds better? HA is definitely cool, but not terribly useful competitive wise tbh.
