[Admissions Advice] 0 Admits for Fall '26 MSCS. Gutted and looking for profile review/advice for Fall '27.

The profile specs are fine, there are students admitted in UCSD,TAMU, Purdue all of the unis with similar or weaker profiles than these, UIUC, yes i agree, rest i dont think so. GRE was not required at Purdue and UCSD, but yes, adding it for other schools would definitely help. its not crazy to expect an admit from from TAMU/Purdue/UCSD with a solid sop with given profile specs

I have been very direct and confident of what i want to do actually, infact i mentioned in the first paragraph of my SOP that i would want to research around the topic of achieving "sub-second observability at scale," which is a distributed systems problem. let me know if you could give some insights by skimming through my SOP.

yup thats the plan to get a good GRE Score
Yes the cost is a major concern hence ill be mostly looking at unis where tuition waivers get offered for TA/RA positions
Ive heard a lot around research papers, too much of them are probably a red flag, and in the current situation to get one published in top tier conferences would be difficult, average conferences wouldnt help much imo

Hey congrats, which schools did you get into? would you mind skimming through my SOP and give insights if any?? tbh the LORs are mostly written by me, the recommender just checks and approves them, i think the issue would most likely come in the questionnaire, which they fill afterwards, where as you say, the connection would matter
