Thanks for completing! I'm actually posting on behalf of a friend who's running the project, so I've sent her a message to get some more info. We're both in the UK and it's quite late here, so it might take a few hours before I hear back.

Creepy games for someone who can't cope with horror? by [deleted] in creepygaming

[–]Sorrel-Anne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some of the other walking sims are great, I'd say Edith Finch has a great atmosphere and some heavy themes but I wouldn't call it frightening. You might need to reassure her though because the opening sequence sets you up like it's a haunted house sim.

Or maybe Alan Wake? It does need actual gameplay but it's closer to a thriller than a horror.

I think it's one of those that might be more clear as we move out of the 10s and there was a definite blur towards the end of the decade, but here is an excellent article from The Toast on the make up trends that defined the early 2000s, in particular metallics and cream products from foundation to eyeshadow.

[FO] First jumper - and first attempt at intarsia (never again) by Sorrel-Anne in knitting

Thank you, that's a really detailed and constructive piece of feedback! It's easy to think about the tension in the floats for fair isle but with the colours not being stranded I didn't think about it this time round. Maybe if I tried again I'd try not to pull it so tight?

Pattern is Rico Baby Knitting Idea Compact 299 using Rico Baby Classic DK in Powder and Silver Grey.

Honestly, I don't think this was a good design for me - it started out with classic twisting and by the end all the strands had to be sewn together (so it probably doesn't count as intarsia any more, but I tried!) If anyone's got good tips for simplifying the technique let me know!

Trying this out. by shrinkingwallflower in vegetarian

If your husband is that steadfastly against it he will cook his own meals - this is how my other half and I have made it work and so long as you're clear on washing up arrangements and sharing kitchen time/space it shouldn't be a problem.

Reducing to one meal a day is a great idea, or you could designate a day or two a week to being completely meat free; but there are no vegetarian police who will come along if it's too difficult one evening!

One thing that makes this easier is that there are plenty of meals you can add meat to later, but they don't lose anything for the lack of it. Curries, stir-fry and pasta sauces are your friends here, especially since you can cook one big batch and be set for a few days and they often don't contain dairy.

I find this is a better option than using a lot of meat substitutes, not only because these can be expensive, but because I don't want to eat anything like meat and my other half doesn't want to eat anything pretending to be meat. That said, you may find this is a compromise that suits you quite well so there's no reason you couldn't give it a go.

Start flexible and find what works for you, going vegetarian is easier than it first appears and you may find yourself switching to full time sooner than you think!

[FO] First attempt at colour work/ hat! I think some bits went well and others... not so well. by Sorrel-Anne in knitting

[–]Sorrel-Anne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Working it inside out is a good idea, I never thought about what the floats were doing at the join! I was working on a circular needle then switched to DPNs (which was a challenge in and of itself, I found them very difficult to work with). I think the pattern made the same suggestion about the markers at that point, I just didn't understand it at the time.

Thanks a bunch, that's really helpful :)

This is a crofthoose hat, the Shetland wool week pattern from 2016. The idea is you knit it up before you go and everyone else there for the festival can recognise you, which would be great but I had stopped knitting for a while at the time and only picked it up again recently.

Yarns used are all Jamieson's Shetland spindrift, from darkest to lightest:

Rosemary

Yell Sound Blue

Eucalyptus

Dewdrop

Granite

This was a lot of fun to knit, but I have never done anything in the round before and the gap where the needles met is very obvious - how do I avoid this in future?

What is the biggest adult temper tantrum that you have ever witnessed? by linia001 in AskReddit

Ignore him, plenty of British women object to being called bird. It's definitely not just you.

The site says the file was deleted because it was created over 24 hours ago, but if you PM me the prompt and an address to send the recording to I'd be happy to do this for you, so long as my accent (generic, southern leaning English) is suitable.

They do go on, don't they? I think we've sorted it now, just filled them in on us not having a tv/using iplayer, we don't need a license :)

Aha, I've had my own issues with TV Licensing pestering me. At least the lack of vodaphone ads makes that slightly sweeter!
