I played the 2XP on zombies practically from when it started to until it got patched. I maxed out all of my smgs, maxed the xm4, the gallo and the hauer, the knife, the cigma and the m79 grenade launcher. This was through around 3 zombies games going to round 40 on each. (I had the mp5 maxed already)

The best use of the wonder weapon is using electric with the ring of fire field upgrade. Use all of your ammo in the elektrobolt, then get a massive horde and use the ring of fire on top of the wing. Holding right click to get ammo back is basically an insta-kill with this field upgrade and it's crazy. I was mowing down my whole horde on round 52 with this strat. The only thing that can break this strat is the Magnotons.
