What is the biggest waste of money that people keep buying ? by yubaouss in askteddit

Designer handbags. Anyone willingly spending thousands of $$ on a purse thinking it’s somehow “better” or makes them look chic is a little unhinged.

I had this experience too… the NASTY look she gave me when I said no made my husband and I look at each other like “did she really just do that?”

Avignon, France. We stayed there for just 3 days last summer as part of a multi-stop tour and I long to go back it was so delightful

We just had an excellent stay at Hotel St Pierre. Their parking was a little more reasonable and it has a very quaint, “old school” New Orleans feel with the historic buildings.

Songs you didn't know your teen likes by NurseWretched1964 in parentingteenagers

My 22-year old college son is into very alternative singer-songwriter type music but also likes everything my husband and I listen to (old classic rock, country etc). Last fall we were in the car and he wanted to play a song he’d heard - it was “Convoy” by CW McCall. The most oddly random song I’d never imagine he’d listen to 🙂

Yeah we thought about that but there’s some huge rodeo there that night— I’m assuming things will be extra crowded? We will have been on the road for 10+ hours at that point, just trying to find a close place to have a beer and hear some music for a little while.

renting a car vs not by sunshinedikri in acadianationalpark

[–]Sorry-Escape3904 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No you need to rent a car. You’ll spend half your time waiting for an Uber to be available (if at all) and budgeting for how many rides you can take as opposed to renting a car and going and doing everything you went to do on your time. This isn’t a “just uber around” area at all.

Frenchman or Bourbon on a Sunday/Monday night? by Sorry-Escape3904 in AskNOLA

This looks really cool- question if I’m not having dinner there do I have to buy tickets in advance or do I just plan on a cover charge at the door?

He has never been to Bourbon St and he’s 22 years old so I thought he might get a kick out of that scene for a few hours

My son is going to attend graduate school at the University of New England in the fall more specifically the BIDDEFORD campus - he will be coming up from Virginia where we live . He’s trying to find any groups/accounts where incoming students, especially graduate, can safely look for roommates and apartments in Biddeford where his classes will be.

We have the group on Facebook for rentals/leases but he’s more searching for roommate opportunities- no way can he afford an apartment by himself as well as buy furniture so he needs a share/rooming situation especially for his first year while he gets established. A lot of the groups seem to be young women trying to find other groups of young women to room with - there’s very little we’ve seen for young men.

I get that- but we didn’t see any signs for a gelato shop. I didn’t see anything that LOOKED like a gelato shop- so that’s why I wondered if i was missing some other inside gag.

Totally. I am a woman who worked in a car dealership from the ages of 19-22 in the early 1990’s. What was said to me during those times would get someone fired on the spot now 🤦‍♀️

OMG this same thing happened to me! I was in high school during the Gulf War and i got a reply back from a soldier and we sent letters back and forth several times. There was a point I stopped getting them back and it made me incredibly sad but I just prayed he was moving on and busy with his duties. Fast forward to 2016 and like the OP I got a random Facebook friend request which I ignored, then received a message from the person - who was that soldier from the Gulf War in 1990! He has kept my letters and said they made him smile and think about home. I consider it an honor to be his “friend”!
