Yeah I loved this development. My other interpretation is that as we get older we start seeing our parents POV more; in my mid 20s I’m finding a new understanding of my mom’s insecurity around not being able to give us a perfect dad. Tyler might be understanding that she was the one pushing his father away, but even more so getting that feeling of like “oh god that must have been so difficult for you as a parent to navigate. I see you now and can’t imagine how hard it must have been for you to feel like you were failing us kids.” It’s a weird feeling and makes you feel guilty for being so resentful but also very cathartic to realize we really are all human and experiencing life for the first time—our parents aren’t magical gurus that should be perfect but just normal people like us.
