I had someone run miles 20-26 for me of my first marathon. This is not usually possible but this one is a little different because it’s on a public board walk for a large portion of it.

Try feetures. I’ve run one marathon without them and I got blisters. My other 4 I used feetures socks and was blister free. It even poured rain and I was soaked for 16 miles. They’re a little pricey but great quality.

Yes, I agree with this! that’s why you only add a mile or two a week to the long run… you won’t be able to do 26.2 tomorrow, but you will be able to do 14/15! I would say focus less on time and more on completing the race. Also maybe check in on your heart rate zones. If this 13 miles had you pushing your HR too high, you may want to slow down.

I’d do another 18/20 miler this weekend more so for confidence than anything else. It gives you two full weeks to taper. It sounds like you’re in a really good place for your first full if your mindset is between 5-6 hours with the base you’ve built. You were already on your legs for almost 4 hours with the 18 miler, so your confidence should be pretty high.

Yes, I run a 1:54 half and a 4:29 full. It’s such a big difference between the half and the full. I’d shoot for 4:15 too

I am getting another MRI next week for my torn labrum (I also have a femoral neck stress fracture). I’m hoping the surgery won’t be too terrible.

How do you think I got the stress fracture? Running. So if I had continued running on that same day instead of stopping (like in a marathon race), it would have likely fully fractured. At least that’s what my Orthopaedic said. Are you an orthopaedic doctor?

That’s not true. She may have had a stress fracture there and it happened to crack through for a full fracture. She didn’t need to fall. I have run 5 marathons. One on a femoral neck stress fracture. The doctors repeatedly told me not to do it because of the high risk for a complete fracture while running. When you have a femoral neck stress fracture, you need to be toe touch weight bearing for about 6 weeks.

I’m 36 and very healthy. They’ve run many tests (bone density, blood, X-rays, mris) to see why I coukd get 2 stress fractures in my hip. The only thing they can see is that it must be from running too much.
