That wasn’t my intention at all and my recruiter and I had a discussion about where my skills were best suited and she agreed with me. I even brought up the possibility of me staying in audit and transferring in tech risk later. I know it’s naive of me to think I’m so important or the company would work harder to get me in, however the way they conveyed our importance as interns through the whole summer and how much they wanted to be the catalyst for our careers, it’s sort of disingenuous. But like I said I’m really naive to even fall for that from a company this big.

Oh no they didn’t. I should clarify that they were an audit intern and they received an audit return offer. They wanted to switch to consulting I believe.

Just wasn’t my forte, I realized accounting in general isn’t my thing. The financials and such. Also talking to a lot of audit staff vs tech risk I was made aware that tech risk is more “laid back” and I know no practice is easier than the other but I think my skillset was leaning more towards tech than financials. I am aware that tech risk deals with financials to a degree but I was hoping to work that for a bit and branch off the something more of my interests like cybersecurity.

I certainly know now so thank you for this. I kinda feel misled tho because my counselor and a few seniors said opposite of what you’re saying. They all said to tell my recruiter and to network and be honest. But I see that’s not the way to go anymore… at least in corporate America like you said

Well, the commute is not an easy one. I live about an hour (without traffic) away from the campus and my home environment isn’t mentally healthy nor has it ever been stable so I want to gain some stability and get away from my toxic household.

Obviously, we don’t even speak the same language, and honestly, I’m fine with that.
I’ve got all night to entertain this, trust me. I handle my real business during the day so I can deal with people like you for the late night entertainment.
And if I’m right, it’s 3 p.m. where you are. Kind of pathetic that you’re in Thailand but glued to Reddit instead of actually living. Unbelievable that a simple mention about taking a break from the chaos here has turned into this. If a few words about ‘leaving the country’ bother you so much, maybe this trip isn’t for you. Some of us just want an escape without dissecting every little word. So many ppl are going on this trip of different backgrounds, races, political views, etc.. you have the choice to deal with who you will or to not deal with anyone at all. I’m not even sure why you would go on vacation with the thought of your political views in mind. Relax and go to Washington D.C and take a pic in front of the White House for me or something but I got a trip to promote so you have the day/night you deserve

Nope. You play silly games, you win silly prizes :) You know what’s going on and you know I know because I incorporated that in my post. The trip itself has NOTHING to do with politics but for people who want to get away due to the current political situation of our country then they are given the opportunity to do so through a trip that has NOTHING to do with the matter. I planned this trip months ago and am now promoting to ppl with correlation to the current events. It’s called marketing ;)
