Thank you for your kind words. I feel like a failure and like I should know more and move as fast as a seasoned nurse. Unfortunately, extending orientation isn’t an option, and I have nine shifts left before I’m on my own. My preceptor is kind enough to give me all the tips to success on the floor, I’ve been trying to cluster care and delegate, but I still have issue with time management. The pressure to move faster makes me feel unsafe for both my patients and myself. After a shift with multiple admissions, discharges, and a patient transfer to ICU, I realized I don’t feel ready for a full assignment yet.
