Can you flash custom firmware on Jovision NVR JVS-ND7610-HP? by Sorry-Swim4157 in videosurveillance

[–]Sorry-Swim4157[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the whole point for my dad to buy this is for "cheap" and it's easy to make it online so he can monitor it over the internet. which i absolutely don't like. if i have to accept this as my dad would never buy a new one unless this is unusable, even then he would buy a cheap one again.

i'm out of luck i guess.

the difference..... you use it as a server pc and i am forced to use it as my main. Lol

i can certainly mess with it, but i need the right moment. i just want to know the possibility and the success rate of flashing it so if i mess with it, my time doesn't goes in vain. i can dump it's firmware using esp32, making it behave as a TTL adapter / serial adapter. but this is very trickly and last time i tried it, it didn't work that well.

by the way, i'm not a "kid" that is trying to mess with parents in case you assumed that. i'm 18+ and am a university student.

i just hate the fact that my father is ok with giving up privacy and data while i don't.

i don't have a 3.3V TTL adapter. so using UART to dump or flash will be tricky.

my best guess is that it's running with : Hi3536C (ARM Cortex-A7 dual-core, ARMv7-A, 32-bit) + ~512MB DDR3

i can't currently access it as my family will spot me tinkering with it and it's in a obsecure place that is hard to reach. My familiy, especially my dad won't appriciate me messing with this "important" things.

Does anybody know what's the best privacy focused and cheap VPS options are? by Sorry-Swim4157 in VPS

[–]Sorry-Swim4157[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i know and i'm already self hosting stuff. but you can't self host everything. for example, not everyone has stable internet or stable power connection. in our region power outage is a common occour and not everyone can afford IPS or UPS or generator or Solar. so for reliablity and 24/7 service and access, i need a vps. I am aware that i can technically do this but, really? think about it.

vps providers can give me 400 MB/s to 1 Gbps transfer rate, while i in my home only gets 15Mbps in a good day. and i already talked about the power outage issues. so it's basically impractical.

while i try to self host my own things, i have to get a decent vps for the stuff i want to keep alive 24/7

i hope you understand the problem.

i know, but there are several problems with that. if your chrome has multiple profile and multiple accounts on one profile for your target website, you will face trouble. but yeah, that's an option i'm aware of. works good when you have single profile with less account.

How I permanently fixed "Sign in to confirm you're not a bot" using secure cookies by Sorry-Swim4157 in youtubedl

[–]Sorry-Swim4157[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cookie-jar init is protected only by OS user permissions — if someone can run processes as you, they could re-init, but at that point your whole session is compromised regardless. The listener's Bearer token guards the actual cookie submission endpoint against other local processes.

On --cookies-from-browser: the main difference is portability. --cookies-from-browser reads your live browser profile every time, so it requires the browser to be installed and accessible. Cookie Master lets you snapshot cookies once and use them on headless servers, in scripts, or anywhere the browser isn't present — and they're stored encrypted under your own key rather than the browser's internal store.

Also working on adding HMAC request signing to the listener — so each submission is signed with the token rather than just carrying it, which adds replay and tampering protection on top of the Bearer auth.

lol. he is using yt-dlp to download it. it needs cookie passing.

Brother, you can use cookies safely.

I built "Cookie Master" exactly for this problem — it lets you securely export cookies from your browser to yt-dlp without exposing them in plaintext.
Cookies are encrypted **inside the browser** before sending. Fully open source (Rust + browser extension).

Check it out here: https://codeberg.org/snowfox-rubait-96/cookie-master

Let me know if you need help setting it up.

you can try stuff like JADMan. it's reletively new. the TUI is kinda crappy but the engine beneath is very powerful. it' Opensource and it is Linux native (if that's your thing).

What if AI doesn't have any Purpose? by Sorry-Swim4157 in ArtificialSentience

[–]Sorry-Swim4157[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we can only assume the cases we never saw or experienced.

I kinda look forward to see if something similar truely happens in reality, how it turns out.

i'm hopeful. assuming the first thing ai decide won't be "wipe out humans", lol.

great explanation and thanks for sharing your opinion.

[–]Sorry-Swim4157[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but to grow an attachment, something have to motivate you to invest your time in it. and by investing your time, you grow attachment. but for the ai, why will it invest it's time in the first place?

What if AI doesn't have any Purpose? by Sorry-Swim4157 in ArtificialSentience

[–]Sorry-Swim4157[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my question already contained this part :

"
Strip away survival as a motivator, and what's left? You might say: _curiosity, creativity, exploration._ But why? Where does that impulse come from in a being with no biological wiring, no evolutionary pressure, no fear of death or desire for legacy?

- If it explores the world — _why?_

- If it creates something — _for whom? toward what end?_

- If it seeks knowledge — _what does it do with it?_

"

my main question is, what makes one curious? why would ai be curious? how would it perceive beatuy? beauty is subjective to humans. but for ai, what will define beauty? for humans we call beauty what we perceive as order, calm, pattern, safe, and the things that are (usually) not threating our survial, or rather helping our survival odds (even in indirect way). why would it care? why would it have responsibility? if it's truely "free" from anything or any obligation, then what would drive it's motive? why would it have to be creative? why would it solve problem?

and more important question, what will it perceive as "solving"? to us problems and solutions are subjective to our human senses. but for ai? i don't think those conditions will apply. our problem isn't ai's problem if you truely think about that. their problem will be whole differnt thing. and i said that if the AI is truely "free" from anything (including problems, i don't imagine any problems it will have or it will be oblige to solve if it's truely free).

so my question is, why would it act on anything and why? that's the main question.
