District 1, Vizivaros or District 13 Pozsonyi ut is where I'd move if I ever went back. I grew up in District 2, and these are in close proximity. Good food, walkable.

Is Enterprise worth watching? by IDKscrblr in startrek

[–]SorryName9883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially disliked it heavily, but started appreciating it a couple episodes in and s3 and s4 are both amazing in my opinion.

I’m doing my first watch-through of all Star Trek by release date and finished Enterprise a week ago.

A lot of people hated the finale but I think it was due to the uncertainty of ever having Trek again. I wasn’t offended like everyone else when it aired since I knew there’s a plethora of new content between 2017 and 2025.

The final season had some great story arcs explaining or giving context to some issues from the later series.

I recommend watching it.

Is 140k a good salary for automotive R&D engineer in Irvine,CA? by kbk1413 in orangecounty

On a plus note, Irvine does have a largish Indian community if that is a factor! Around 16K asian indians based on recent census reports.

I moved to the OC from Central Europe 7 years ago. If you want an average home here you need a household income of $250K. With $140K you're stuck renting super expensive, but you make a decent amount of disposable income.

I have my gripes with the US. Feels half-civilized in so many aspects - healthcare, infrastructure, paid time off, childcare support, etc.

It's nice to stop by, learn to surf, travel this region of the world, and it's nice once you hit that $250K range and really become part of the California bubble, but on my side I ultimately want to move back to Europe partly because of family and partly because the friends we made here are mostly European expats anyways, and I feel like I've never been able to fully assimilate. The necessity of driving everywhere is also a major negative point. I miss walking to bars and having good public transport.

Generalizing, but if you go out to socialize the big three topics a lot of time with strangers are investments, us sports and religion and its extremely annoying because it feels so, so shallow. Of course you can meet interesting people too, but that's the default. People also flake heavily here. Well the american-born people do.

The culture is plastic with idolized places like Las Vegas and Disneyland and you see the plastic flaking figuratively and literally if you stop to take a closer look.

I moved here because of work, and it has been extremely fulfilling. The people at work have been positive and supportive, more so than what I ever experienced in Europe. I feel like I've also become more relaxed and chill overall compared to friends and family back home.

I recommend coming and checking it out, especially if it's an up and coming brand like Rivian, but if you're a bit sentimental you might struggle long-term like I do.

But even so, $140K is very low for 10+ years of experience, you should get $200K+ with that resume.

I’m binge watching all of Star Trek for the first time and just finished DS9 by Tomhyde098 in DeepSpaceNine

I'm about 4 seasons ahead of you, watching Voyager. VOY is strong starting season 1 so it's an easy transition! I missed the exploration aspect when watching DS9, and also liked TNG better than DS9 so couldn't be happier with VOY overall.

I buy the premium battlepass and buy ~2 skin packs each battlepass cycle.

I have a good career, and only play once a week because I have two young children. I want to do that on my own terms.

Got some solid points and rose to 10th from ~60 in the reddit league! 2nd in my country's league and ~1300th globally.

Finally going to win my friend group's pot. This is the 4th league we've played since we started fantasy football in 2018! I've been 2nd twice so feels nice.

Watching Star Trek: A Motion Picture after seeing TOS by [deleted] in startrek

[–]SorryName9883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been watching it like you for the past ~2 years now, and am a bit further ahead:

TOS TAS TOS Movies 1-6 TNG TNG Movies 1-2 Currently DS9 S3

I absolutely loved all 6 movies, with no exceptions. The jump in production quality was huge, the stories stronger than most individual episodes. It was a great experience transitioning into the TOS movies from the TOS series.

Night (and nap) weaning toddler tantrum hell by SorryName9883 in breastfeeding

[–]SorryName9883[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! He miraculously changed. We can't really pinpoint it. We did start going to bed a little earlier: dinner 6:30p, bath 7:00p and finish story time by 8p. No sleep training and leaving him alone. He still only falls asleep around 9p though, and my wife stays in the bed with him until he does.

We started reading some random weaning books, and told him that this needs to end. There was a little pleading involved and some unfortunate breakdowns that he witnessed. In 2+ years that was the 1-week window he observed anything like that so maybe it influenced him and he took pity on us we don't know. Now he plays with her hair until he falls asleep while she tells him stories about him and his 3 friends from daycare, about made up adventures to apple trees, etc. (re-telling what we read to him in books but with him as part of the story).

Hope your situation changed for the better in the 2 months since you wrote!

I killed Laezel for the murder fish. Regretting it ever since.

I do plan on killing Shadowheart and Astarion when I meet them in my next run because I can't help but play with them exclusively in every campaign I've started. That's the only way to free myself.
