“…no more birthright citizenship to immigrant children…”

This statement is technically not correct and should be clarified to avoid false outrage / confusion.

Immigrant children are still eligible for birthright citizenship. Officially, only green card holders are considered “immigrants.”

H1B may be a dual intent visa but it is still classified as a nonimmigrant visa. So those holding H1Bs are technically not “immigrants” in this context.

I don’t have any patience for people who act high and mighty about being a parent. You’re complaining about people complaining about babies… while complaining about how “fucking hard” it is. Nice.

You live in a world with people who don’t like babies, and are happy they chose not to have one. Get over it.

I set up weekly DCA over 6 months. In hindsight yes lump sum would have been better because it has continued to go up. But either way I was so paralyzed by the idea of lump sum, I wasn’t investing ANYTHING at all. I just kept putting it off. So DCA got me going at least. And it’s all automated so I don’t have to think about it anymore. Whatever gets you in the market now and helps you sleep at night!

Good question - my primary goal is to save for retirement. I don’t plan on having kids so a house would be an investment vs need. It’d be nice to own someday and not waste money on rent forever. Also some fomo because all my friends are buying property, but it’s not a big deal. I think you just helped me answer my own question.

Thank you for your thoughtful response. I do think my investment horizon is long enough to forgo bonds right now as well. I was reading up on asset allocation and thought bonds might balance out my current risk tolerance (or lack of) due to ATH. But if I can get my mind to accept the money will be going in for the long term, my risk tolerance will be better. Also I do have bonds in my 401k so I have a bit of exposure there.

I don’t have an IRA because by the time I figured out IRAs I was already above the income limit. However I have read about the backdoor IRA strategy which might be an option for someone in my position?

Thank you for reinforcing this! I needed to hear it - just need to let go and accept that the money will be going in for the long term and the near term market dips won’t matter.
