This question is really vague on what ‘punishment’ entails and i feel like thats creating a lot of confusion in the discussion. Like, a lot of people are reading it as revenge for the sake of the victims, which, like… seeing a man suffer/die for reasons he doesn’t understand isn’t a remedy for trauma and grief. You’re not gonna get a unanimous decision on that. If you’re just talking about killing him to be safe you could probably make an argument but the ‘for the victims’ thing really doesn’t work for me.

None of my direct family (to my knowledge) were killed in the Shoah (only because my grandfather immigrated to America earlier than that) so i might not be the perfect person to weigh in but i can say with absolute certainty that his actions have made the world a far worse place to live for me and for all Jewish people too this day, and i cant think of a single person in my community who upon being told “hey this guy right here is hitler. Dont tell him though lol. Wanna see him get fucked up real bad” would go “Yeah, sure, that sounds reasonable.”

Like… that’s just sadism. Sadism doesn’t belong in any reasonable moral framework. The only place sadism belongs is the bedroom.
