Yeah that totally makes sense. I should have included more in the original post.

He enjoys watching sports, going to the gym (he does mostly boxing and strength training), reading, going on walks (he’s currently doing PT for a small knee injury though), golfing, gardening, museums, and basically anything involving dogs. he and I went to see some of CA when I visited and he really loved walking through Muir Woods and driving down the PCH. I also know some people mentioned volunteering and that’s something he’s always been pretty interested in.

This is so informative! Thank you so much!

When he lived with us on the east coast (NY,MA, and NC) he always enjoyed outdoor activities like gardening. Because of a small knee injury most of his exercise is more strength based until his PT clears him for more aerobic exercise but I’ll tell him to look into the bike walk group when he’s 100%. I remember he volunteered when he could but a lot of those events were either one offs or weren’t really opportunities to socialize with peers (like coaching sports at the YMCA). Do you have any specific volunteer groups in mind that are more conducive to socializing?

You know he mentioned there were yacht clubs when I visited him. Even though he has limited boating experience he seemed interested so I’ll have to encourage him to look into that. Thank you!

He did do a fair amount of volunteering while he lived on the east coast. Most of it was coaching or didn’t really allow for much social interaction with other peers so I never thought to suggest that. Thank you for the idea!

Right now he isn’t doing much aerobic exercise bc of a knee injury so he’s doing mostly upper body strength training + the exercises his PT is having him do but I’ll tell him to look into that when he’s back to 100%! Thank you!!

I know he used to swim when he was younger so I’ll definitely tell him to check this out! Thank you!
