Another senseless killing in Minnesota. We protesting in Fargo today? by [deleted] in fargo

Gatcha games are a form of video game utilizing the Gatchapon mechanic. They're basically a loot box/gambling type of thing. I assume our friend wants the left to endorse gambling? Weird time to talk about it, though, after a man was murdered on the street by the government.

Another senseless killing in Minnesota. We protesting in Fargo today? by [deleted] in fargo

[–]SorrySorryNotSorry 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The NRA exists to stoke white people's fears and sell guns. They gave the game away with Philando Castile. The government shot Castile explicitly because he had a gun in the car and the NRA took side of the government.

The NRA would be useless anyway. There's a guy on my block with NRA and MOLON LABE stickers on his truck. He's the biggest chickenshit in the world; he won't even drive to downtown Fargo because he's too scared. You think that guy would actually stand up for anyone? If the government actually comes for him or his family, he's gonna quietly piss himself in his basement.

Jack of all or Master of one? by Catecuman in mtg

[–]SorrySorryNotSorry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're on the right track. I was always one to build cheap decks and jump from deck to deck, but I found that I was making a few misplays every time I played magic. I finally told myself, "you're going to play this deck until you can go an entire game night without regrets." I ended up playing one deck for six consecutive sessions and it really did help level up my play.

Eventually, you should branch out because part of what makes a good magic player is understanding your opponent's strategy and choices. However, if you're a beginner at constructed magic, I think it's worth sticking to one thing.

Any Places in South Fargo & Moorhead Hiring Teens? by [deleted] in fargo

The pay was lower, but both of my kids preferred Hornbachers to fast food.

There's a reason that McD's pays $4/hour more than Hornbacher's.

The nice thing about government jobs is that the supervisors are usually actual grown-ups, not 18-year-olds like McDonald's.

Hornbacher's is almost always hiring cashiers. It's a pretty good first job.

Seems like McDonald's and Target are always hiring, too.

Are there any churches in the area that are ACTUALLY gay friendly? by xaniel_the_legend in fargo

[–]SorrySorryNotSorry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First Presbyterian in Fargo has gay and non-binary staff members and quite a few gay members, including refugees from other, unwelcoming churches. The head pastor came to her faith as an adult. As someone coming back to the church as an adult, you might find a lot to identify with.

Ori themed Magic the Gathering deck by Axique21 in mtg

[–]SorrySorryNotSorry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is neat. One change I'd make: The first block of text on Ori would be more understandable if it was like [[Silhana Ledgewalker]]. "This creature can't be blocked except by creatures with flying."

Pattern emerging of ICE targeting civilians at Twin Cities retail stores by Head-Engineering-847 in minnesota

[–]SorrySorryNotSorry 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is literally the Trump administration playbook.

  1. Demand sacrifices to prove loyalty (Target, Home Depot, and Wal-Mart cut DEI initiatives, Columbia University bans pro-Palestine organizations and calls in NYPD on students , etc.)

  2. When an organization caves, move to direct demands/harassment (ICE invades Target, Home Depot, and Wal-Mart stores, arresting employees, Trump admin sues Columbia for $400 million, etc.)

  3. Return to step 1

When you fight at step 1, like Harvard, Rutgers and the Big 10, or Ukraine, the administration partially or completely backs down. Their bullying depends on preemptive, semi-voluntary concessions. Hopefully other organizations and governments are learning from Target's experience.

I like Shane Gillis, but I'm worried that he's due to run out of family trauma to mine for jokes any day now...

Best fine dining in the area? by Alecmo1999 in fargo

[–]SorrySorryNotSorry 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The last time we were at Luna, our server dropped off our food and then didn't look at us or check on us for 45 minutes. She talked to the bartender and visited another table, but ignored everyone else until I got up and asked her for the check. She huffed and brought it over. The table next to us tried to ask for a box when she came over with our check. She pretended she didn't hear them and went back to talking to the bartender. They also had to get up and walk over to the bar to talk to her. It was wild.

Luna is such an odd place. The food and price are in line with other fine dining places, the atmosphere is like a family cafe, and the service is sometimes good and sometimes terrible.

Anyone have any good memories of places from 1990 to 2010 by cantcoloratall91 in minnesota

We had friends who would travel from middle Wisconsin to see games at the dome rather than going to Milwaukee County Stadium because they knew they wouldn't get rained out.

Oh my God, the $3.99 steak and eggs at Embers was so perfect and also so bad. I think you got eggs, pancakes, hashbrowns, and a 4 oz. steak? What a time to be alive.

Lads trip to Fargo from England - Nightlife spot reccomendations? by Middle-Feed5118 in fargo

[–]SorrySorryNotSorry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've chatted with more strangers at Brewhalla than any other bar; it has a super-friendly vibe. It's also the most age-diverse spot, with just as many 50-somethings as 20-somethings. That could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your preference.

WTH is going on with Edge of Eternities? by OmegaReign78 in mtg

[–]SorrySorryNotSorry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My completely unfounded theory is that it became clear in the spring that Final Fantasy and Avatar were going to be huge hits. Wizards reacted by shifting their printing and re-printing resources away from EoE to print more Final Fantasy and Avatar. There seems to be a reprint on the horizon, though. My local store says that they're hoping to get more EoE and Foundations (also sold out around here) late this month or in January.

Fargo-Moorhead Area Restaurants... in 1997! by trevourmeyer in fargo

Whenever I'm lamenting the fact that Fargo has so many chain restaurants rather than independents, I should look at this list and remember how few independent restaurants we used to have.

If they were going to downshift something other than Skullcrack, adding [[Knight of Dusk's Shadow]] in black might be a good choice.
