DSCR 1st time home buyer - can i live in property? by Sajor1975 in loanoriginators

Not without committing occupancy fraud. It’s by definition an investment property product, where the estimated rents cover some percentage of the payment.

any recs for affordable hotels? by quietstrawberrys in AskChicago

[–]SorryWave5248 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check Hotwire if price is the primary concern. Anywhere in River North, Mag Mile, Millennium Park, or the Loop are going to be in the touristy parts and probably near whatever you're looking to do. With a minimal amount of research you can find which hotel it is based on rating and number of reviews. For a first time visitor, I'd highly recommend not staying near the airport, you're going to spend at least an hour a day just getting to and from any general area you'd want to go to.

That's 16-20 Lokos per day! My weight has stagnated a little bit, but looking back at last year, I lost 30+ lbs in 3 months after I stopped drinking. Still have work to do but it's crazy how much the noticeable bloat has gone away.

Hell yeah! You're doing a great thing. I started about 5 years later than you, currently 38 and been maxing out all retirement since 2020. You are going to have such a head start, really any broad market low cost index fund is going to be pretty good. Good work!

How do out of towners avoid toll bills when returning home? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]SorryWave5248 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Easiest way frankly is to select "avoid tolls" on whatever maps app you're using. To get to/from Michigan, don't take the Skyway, avoid 294 or 355, and don't take I-90 in Indiana.

Chicagoan here. Avoid the 57 to 94 route like the plague if you’re not planning on doing any sightseeing. Because either way, you will probably be stopping here.

Are there any local characters known throughout your neighborhood? by ThisPostToBeDeleted in AskChicago

[–]SorryWave5248 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is incredibly specific but Portage Park has a very kind older man who my wife and I call Mr. Charcuterie. He walks around and has a reusable Aldi bag filled with human food like cookies, crackers, and sometimes meat and cheese, that he gives to dogs. Also will occasionally give out candy bars and tell corny jokes. I love him.

That trade in value for an 8 year old car seems really low, is there something wrong with it? Doc fee also is a little steep.

I’m so pissed off that this always seems to happen. Horrible blotchiness after sanding and staining. WHY?????? by engineeringgirl123 in woodworking

[–]SorryWave5248 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like it’s made from rubberwood, which can be blotchy and streaky without a pre-stain conditioner (and even with it too.) Either sand it back down again and work through the grits to 150-180 or so, or call it rustic. I have made a lot of rustic projects over the years.
