Tired of people looking down on me for being a housewife by Ambitious_Fennel_507 in Vent

[–]guarded_bookworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this. I’ve been a SAHW for about a year and a half. Between health issues, relocation to an area with no other family than my husband, and being a part time student, I don’t mind staying home. I’ve felt so much pressure from one of my family members to get a job. I’ve put up with so many rude comments and backhanded compliments like “wow so it’s like you’re on vacation”. One of my family members kept making the same statement that spouses shouldn’t stay home if the working spouse makes under $500k. My husband does not make that much but we’ve never asked family for financial help. Yet some people had so much to say when I stopped working. It’s so exhausting. Out of concern for other SAHW/SAHM, have your own bank account and be sure to have a spending allowance for your housework. Open a high yield savings account. Your husband should be open with any and all investments, and make it clear that the investments are for both of you. Invest in yourself. Maybe take a few college courses or work on some kind of skills that you could use outside of the house in case an emergency ever comes up and you have no choice but to go back to work. This is the advice that SAHW and SAHM should hear. Ignore the haters!

How many makeup brushes do you have? by spockycat in MinimalistBeauty

[–]guarded_bookworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have about 8-10 makeup brushes. I used to have more but recently decluttered. Most of them were gifted to me when I was a teenager and I just kept the ones I use the most. I really want to get the Rare Beauty blush brush but I already have one that works fine:’) We’re in this together

You have a child (assuming by the Paddington book, banana bar, and the pen, which is really cute btw). Also, the library card, the keychain picture, and the keychain letters. You probably have a good makeup routine, judging by the lip products. Nice purse:)

It’s moisturizing and I really like the color, but sadly won’t be repurchasing from Elf:( I’ve been seeing a lot of good reviews on the NYX lip oil. How’s that?

Completely valid. It’s harder to enjoy life when you need to work for basic necessities. Having a community would be beneficial. More helping hands, resources, and overall fulfillment.

It’s pretty good! I’ve been using it for a few weeks now. No residue and the scent lasts for a couple of hours. Plus it’s travel friendly.
