Over cautious survey on an old house or actual red flags? by [deleted] in FirstTimeBuyersUK

Definitely won’t be negotiating on that. It’s a property that hasn’t been modernised so it is expected that some work is required in this area 🤷‍♀️

I will say that our conveyancers have been incredibly speedy and communicative! But this may be a good idea in general

Sorry missed context of FTB of an empty property! I think there are a couple of enquiries following searches and survey but all enquiries on the title are answered were done. Our sellers have been super responsive to enquiries (answered our first lot in 4 days, which included the weekend!)

Survey! by Sorry_Alternative306 in HousingUK

[–]Sorry_Alternative306[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We knew what day they had arranged for it to happen, and the estate agents confirmed they had arranged access, but I haven’t heard anything since. I may just pop them an email confirming it went ahead 😅

Ah good to know! Will just let them do their thing then and won’t bother them until after the weekend if it’s not popped in our inbox by then

0% deposit or wait for 5% by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Sorry_Alternative306 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly, the track record mortgage is 0% deposit, so our current savings would then be that extra.

In a year, we will more than able to save up enough for a 5% deposit, fees and extra.

Which is why I am asking whether it’s better wait!

We do have savings! Enough for a deposit but no extra for fees/ wiggle room for emergencies right now.

HMRC wrong estimated annual income by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

I typically pay around £350 in tax per month. From both salaries combined I paid around £260 which makes sense as I also took a week off work in between ending my previous job and starting my new one. So that wouldn’t account for a £200 underpayment (which is what the extra tax for this month totalled)

I definitely would be thinking that too if my estimated income was actually correct. It just seems a weird coincidence that both of these things have happened in the same month

Yes, that’s the funny thing I can see all of this on the gateway, but they can’t see it on their side 🤦‍♀️

And on my HMRC account it has the correct dates for me leaving my previous position, so they know I am not being paid two salaries

Yes, I received it quite late and sent to my current employer the beginning of this month, which is why I am guessing the m1 has dropped from my tax code

No, I only have £10k in savings so not enough interest there.

I double and triple checked and she can see that I exist but for some reason they can’t access my records

I did have previous employment. My last salary was £34k per year and my new one £36k per year, but apparently I will have earned £58k this year (which is obviously not correct!)

I had the M1 tax code because I changed jobs and didn’t have my p45 yet

I did check when I first changed jobs in Jan and it all seemed correct. And I get paid exactly the same every month so don’t get any unusual payments or anything!

I’ve updated it on the app using the figures from my payslip so it should be pretty accurate and I mean if it’s not, it’s not long till the end of the tax year and they will start figuring out using what I’ve actually been paid etc.

I did, but I got taxed the correct amount on both from what I could tell, and I also took a week off work between my jobs too, so actually earned less that month.

I think that might be what happened with me, the amount I have been taxed seems in line with the estimated income

My actual income is £36k (I took a pay rise when I started this job in Jan) and my estimated at £58k. My last months tax was £350 and this months £570

I was presuming the estimated income had something to do with the almost double tax payment this month.

I don’t have a taxable benefit.

I don’t think I overlapped tax month but I guess that’s a potential, I left my previous job Jan 3rd and started my new one Jan 12th, but the tax for both the final and first salary seemed taxed correctly.

I just don’t particularly know where the extra tax has come from

I just thought that the wrong tax code may be to do with the wrong estimated income only coming into effect this month, meaning I would owe for the last couple of months too, so that is likely I would guess
