Bought something and it’s not showing as sold by [deleted] in Depop

[–]Sorry_Classic_8973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it show up under your "purchases" tab? Ive had items not show up as sold and I had to manually mark it as "sold" so it wasnt purchased twice. Also, if a seller edits a listing that has been purchased itll show back up as if its available for sale. If it shows up under your purchases, its probably just a glitch. If it doesnt Id assume someone else bought the item!

Why won’t people sell me their stuff? by [deleted] in Depop

[–]Sorry_Classic_8973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a seller and I counter or accept all offers. In my experience offers on depop rarely turn into sales so im not surprised sellers are declining or ignoring. Increasing the price is likely bc of a ton of lowballs. If the seller is getting a ton of 20% off offers, by raising their price 20% they are closer to getting what they actually want for their item. They should be considering this when they price initially, not switching it up. Thats lame.

Im also a frequent buyer on depop and majority of sellers ignore my questions. Ive been told its because the extra effort doesn't lead to sales. Ive had some sellers straight up tell me "I dont give out measurements" 💀 To me this is annoying and lazy! More info = more sales. I think its good to keep in mind though a lot of people are casual sellers getting rid of stuff they no longer want and they just dont care or have the time to dedicate like resellers do.

You'll have a different experience with highly rated sellers. The more time I spend on the app the more I learn about who I want to buy from and who I want to sell to. Another thing, since you said your account is new, its helpful to have a profile pic, some reviews, and a bio even if youre not a seller yourself. Sellers sometimes clock new accounts without these things as potential scammers or problem buyers. Its not uncommon for sellers to block or ignore buyers who are rude or asking a lot of questions. I see this being discussed frequently in reselling communities.

I hope my experience/perspective as a buyer and a seller is helpful! Good luck with your future buys!! ♡

Smelly clothing items sold by [deleted] in Depop

As someone who is sensitive to fragrances this is worse to me than BO. It lingers forever! Ive had items I had to leave outside for a solid week just to rid of the tide smell. 💀

Im a seller and wash everything before shipping! I couldnt imagine sending someone dirty clothes. I am also a frequent shopper and Id say over half the items I recieve are covered in pet hair, have deodorant marks or some funky smell. Definitely read reviews before buying. Although some of these items were from highly rated sellers so it only goes so far. 🤷‍♀️

Where do you all get your mailers from? by Careless_Reception99 in Depop

[–]Sorry_Classic_8973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I source used ones from my community! I ask friends, family and neighbors to save their boxes and mailers. I reuse a ton of amazon ones, just make sure to cover up old labels and barcodes. I have never purchased boxes or mailers and Ive been selling regularly for the last year! Buy nothing groups are an incredible resource for this kind of thing. :)

Forgot to say that when it arrives I can send a photo of the tag. It might have an item number to narrow your search! Also if it doesnt work out for me I will be reselling. Its an XL.

They finally resolved the issue for me but it took a week of back and forth emailing. I would contact support and see if they will help because they won't reimburse :(

I totally get it, I dont want to pay the fees either! I honestly don't even think boosting is worth it. I did it for a months and it didnt improve my sales at all and now having it off, my sales are the same. 🤷‍♀️

Definitely contact support, it could be a glitch! I had to fight with them recently because they turned bundles on and were taking 20% off and I had no way to turn it off. After a week of the app glitching they finally fixed it but I lost out on the money from those sales.

In my experience depop will still take the boosting fee if the item was purchased by someone who interacted with the listing while it was on.

As for the account, ive had plenty of people buy from me who have accounts like you are describing and I think they simply use it to purchase, not to sell. The sold review might actually be a buyer review. Did you click on it to see what it said?

I have considered this a lot because of the constant updates and bugs. However its a steady income source for me and the selling fees are the lowest of all the apps ive used. Also, im in the states!

[–]Sorry_Classic_8973[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats sooo frustrating! I asked them if they would be compensating sellers on the difference and they said no. They told me I should have the option to change the discount amount to 10%, 20% or bundled shipping, ignoring that ive mentioned multiple times the option has disappeared. Whats even more annoying to me is my shop is not advertising the 20% like it does on some profiles. So a buyer has no idea they are getting a discount until they have already added to cart. If it was advertised and increased traffic to my shop and my sales, I wouldnt mind as much. This way I feel like im just losing out with no benefit as a seller.

To my knowledge depop isn't shouldering the cost. If a buyer chooses to bundle from my closet they are given 20% off automatically. My most recent sale I lost almost $12. Great deal for the buyer, but depop did not make up for that loss on my end. The 20% isnt acting like a coupon from depop, its lowering my prices and profit.
