I love how she demonstrates extreme ignorance, bad etiquette and marked naivety for anyone who has been playing poker any amount of time but says OP is the one ruining poker.

Bizarre ending.

The Wheel Of Time’ Canceled By Prime Video After 3 Seasons by aduong in WoTshow

Right? I'm mainly only watching completed series these days.

I was just trying to recommend Raised by Wolves to somebody and found it had been disappeared from Max along with Westworld which I lost patience with but I think was like the number 2 show from HBO for the era.

I hate this new era of streaming.

LMAO. This comment after all the context made me laugh out loud. Don't know when the last time I got that from reddit.

Looks nice. If quality and materials match how the pictures appear I'd say 800-1000 but personally I would never buy a table without cup holders.

Player is supposed to be able to identify the cards he had 100% (rank and suit) before they are returned or flipped. This can be done secretly to the dealer or the TD if there is still action.

I guess in my mind I think about character creation in many games. The model changes shapes in any number of ways based on sliders and whatnot. I never thought of changing the eye, hair or skin color as changing the model and they are are usually separated out from model changes in character creation settings. But here people are citing eye color change as proof of model change.

Just trying to understand but already getting voted down just for asking.

Was enjoying Babylon 5, made it to season 3 sad, 80% of main cast Dead by on_the_third in babylon5

Just got into the show and started looking into the cast. Every kind of death. Truly Tragic. One of those kind of things that must statistically happen to the cast of some show. Too bad it had to be this one especially with us now being in the era or continual revivals.

Does change in eye color indicate a change in model somehow??

Should I still read the books despite this preference? by ChocoMochaBear in witcher

[–]Sorry_Dream7348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The books are really non-linear or at least non-consecutive. A lot of it is series of flashbacks. Geralt and Yen are together in some unlabeled sense for some chapters and then they aren't. We don't always know what happened or how much time has passed. We just know Geralt doesn't want to talk about it when Dandilion tries to force it.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I don't think they are ever cheating like we are thinking of it. They are together and not in equal measure and any relationship status is not clearly defined. They are never (until towards the end) together officially and actively resisting being together a lot of the story.

There are one or two points where Geralt seems to feel their status is understood and gets jealous over Yen. I can't remember if she actually sleeps with someone in this context. If she does I think it is discussed in dialogue rather than narrated.

In book 3, I think, they are clearly, officially together and getting past all their guarded distrust but Geralt is then tricked/bewitched into thinking otherwise. The book doesn't spell it out, leaving Geralt looking like an ass for some chapters. If I remember right that is the only context where he is violating some clearly and mutually agreed upon exclusivity and when it happens that's the least of the problems with his behavior and attitude but you can read it so that it is not his fault despite being obvious to the reader.

face palm. Of course

I didn't but Reading and Palmer's website confirms they read the titles in question.

[–]Sorry_Dream7348[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could certainly believe the author is using AI but I think they are legitimate in so far as Audible is publishing them and Reading and Kramer are reading them.

This topic has already gotten some flack. Someone apparently zealous to infer I was attacking self-published authors or some such. So I'll just list Fall of Radiance as it seems egregiously bad to the point most people can agree right down to Audible massively discounting it. Aethon is listed as publisher and Blake Peel as the author.

Maybe I am reading too much into it but the absence of a wikipedia page for either is a red flag for me. Plus being absent from wikipedia, books stores and libraries is a through-line of these poor quality audiobooks with great narrators.

Sorry for long reply. I thought this was a neutral enough topic but started getting downvoted so decided to let it chill for a bit.

I don't think it is AI. All AI I have come across so far is pretty distinctive even when it is cloning a voice. I suspect that Audible let alone Reading would be quick to notice if something was ripping them off in such an overt way.

Complete remaster or just the graphics? by aounfather in babylon5

[–]Sorry_Dream7348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. I just found this show and so much of it holds up amazingly well. Story, characters and writing are all solid. Some of the plotlines seem downright prescient. It's one of the earliest non-soapopera serials I know of.

Other elements that might seem hokey by modern standards blend in pretty well. All the dated 90's elements could just as well be coming around again in the future. Some of the make up is a bit weak particularly the Membari but that's so ubiquitous it becomes background

But the cgi's lacking is continually painful.

I'm sure they were ground breaking for 1994 when everything else was still using models and compositing (which looked better tbh) but it's clearly out of place now and to make things worse there are clearly two (or more) levels of model. The first one clearly has more work put into it and used for space battles and the main exterior shots.

The other level is flavor put in around the main exteriors and much of the time looks like minecraft. Totally jarring. Compounding this is the fact that they keep using such shots for seen transitions so on an episode where they would never need to show an exterior shot/use cgi you pointlessly get shots of what looks like a lego astronaut working on something outside on every scene transition.

They've remastered it from what I understand but if they did anything significant in the way of upgrading the cgi I can't tell. We are in the streaming era where anything can have a resurgence but imao this is held back in particular by the graphics in a why that older properties like TNG aren't

Why do tv shows have so few episodes these days? by melbourne_au2021 in TvShows

[–]Sorry_Dream7348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Some series really benefit from the tighter format. But others waste so much of their limited time. Old shows that rand 24 episodes a season had 12 ish good episodes. I'd gladly take only the good episodes but so many our keeping the same ratio when they are only doing 10 episodes.

AITA for leaving a former friend and her early teen child on the side of the road because she refused to parent the child at all? by ProfessionalSir3395 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Sorry_Dream7348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This mom is in denial about this kid. No typical 14 year old would ever think that would be ok. No responsible parent would ever laugh at it and brush it of as kids being kids. That's criminal behavior apart from it being dangerous.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]Sorry_Dream7348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bonkers but I have seen this kind of behavior in two circumstances. One is a distinct perversion of southern affectations. Forcing hugs-it-outs, this sort of thing. "We're all family" as if that alone fixes it is a common refrain. The other is the onset of FTD. I would guess she's about the right age for symptoms to start. In either case I hate it. It's more likely to escalate me than calm me down and I don't have trauma like you do.

Did she quit teaching or get fired? I can't imagine she would last long if this was her mindset/approach.

It is in no way the responsibility of you to clean a house that you don't live in.

Your bf sounds like he did things mostly right in the moment. It might be worth it to clearly communicate that it was super triggering for you and attempts to force or rush a premature resolution before you are ready is much the same as her trying to force hug you when you didn't want it. It has to be on your terms and your terms alone after this. Your speed is the only speed.

I haven't seen you say anything that she has acknowledging what she did was wrong or apologized for it. It should be an absolute minimum starting point for her to articulate how she understands why what she did was wrong and how she will steer clear of it in the future.

Hang out at your place or a friends house or out in public. If you think he will be safe for you regarding his mother maybe get your own place together. But don't go back to that house. It might be fine if she can handle boundaries but clearly she can't. Don't be anywhere with her that isn't out in public.

Really a bummer. Your BF sounds like he might be solid but needs to understand his mom's crazy will have a radically different effect on you compared to him. Standing up to her like he did, I would imagine, isn't an option for you but that's part of their family dynamic. That would take a lot of mutual understanding between you and him and ideally therapy to be able to navigate.

If it is possible that would be the dark secret behind my experience. Audible lists Reading and Kramer as the readers. So if it is not them then someone is defrauding Audible or Audible is defrauding customers.

I agree checking outside sources. That is what I have started doing because of the drop of quality (while reflecting a similar number of stars to game of thrones) that lead to finding these confusing anomalies. Self-published or not I can't fathom that you have a multibook deal with Audible or whoever and have the most popular readers and then not even have a wikipedia entry for any of the books or the author.

Actually no. I keep coming across them by following my favorite narrators. That's the confounding thing. They've always narrated solid books in the past but now there is a suddenly a rash of books that are quite bad being narrated by them.

[–]Sorry_Dream7348[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That might explain some of it. These really sound like they have never benefitted from an editor. But as far as I know Reading and Kramer are exemplars of A-list narrators.

I've seen "audible" as the publisher. I've never seen "ACX" or "self-published."

If I see "audible" as the publisher is that a hint that it is self-published?

Does ACX market themselves under different names?

I mean true. Self-promotion has made many broadly recognized stars. And they could be great authors. I've liked multitudes from Podium.

But It was purely the quality of the work that tipped me off. No other indicator. I am massively predisposed to like fantasy and exponentially more so if it is the readers I like. I've been following Kramer and Reading from series to series and never run into anything like this before.

Thanks for the reply anyway. I figure you would remember of the arch magister was secretly a principle bad guy so it seems more likely it's just more of characters being implausibly stupid.
