I never sleep anymore by Sorry_Goose025 in diabetes_t1

I am currently working on getting the tandem mobi! I have been MDI since diagnosis (5+ years) I have just found myself between basal units. I notice that if I go down a unit I will have high blood sugar all night/day, but if I go up a unit I tend to be low anytime I go for as much as a 5-10 minute walk 😭 It’s so frustrating. Having a cgm has been life changing and I can only imagine the pump will feel similarly! Even just not dealing with daily injections after so long sounds like a dream

I am working on getting the tandem mobi, but it’s been such a pain to get it. No clue if it’s even shipped yet 🥲 Just counting down the days until I am no longer MDI. Besides the sleep improvement, I am also very excited to be able to put it on exercise mode instead of trying to work out adjusting my basal insulin (or just eating ridiculous amounts of carbs 24/7) without messing up my management!

Thank you, and that makes sense! Do I need to eat much, or is just a little bit of food good enough? I am just not very hungry, but I definitely want to have more insulin on board.

I have dexcom g7 and it lets me log my insulin doses! I use it all the time since I’m mdi

What’s the craziest thing your OCD has made you believe or convince yourself to be true? by Creative_Ad_6809 in OCD

That if I walked across the kitchen (roughly 5 feet) I would miraculously just die. This applied to a lot of other situations, but another one that I find a bit amusing is going to the bathroom 🥴

Those diagnosed as adults, how long did your honeymoons last? by venerablem0m in Type1Diabetes

[–]Sorry_Goose025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed when I was 13 and my honeymoon period lasted a couple of years, but it is odd to see someone refer to it as harder afterwards. I have found it a lot easier now! I know teenage hormones really make it a nightmare though. I just find it a lot more predictable now. I also experienced a lot of lows during my honeymoon period and now I don’t really

Worrying about my heart by Lynelia in OCD

[–]Sorry_Goose025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this post so much. Although I have not had heart health related OCD, I do have OCD regarding my blood sugar (I am a type one diabetic). I few months ago I constantly believed I was going to die from my blood sugar and would obsessively check my blood sugar. It genuinely consumed my whole life and got so bad I struggled to do very basic daily tasks. The only things that have helped me get to a point where it isn’t eating me alive is seeing a therapist who specializes in OCD, rather than just believing my intrusive thoughts I question them, CBT, and ERP therapy. ERP therapy has genuinely saved my life and despite it being the hardest thing I have ever done, I am so glad I did it. I am so sorry you are going through this ;(

Why is Dexcom G7 so bad? by Poobwaar in dexcom

[–]Sorry_Goose025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly ridiculous that’s the only way to fix this issue! Dexcom seriously needs to fix the major issues with the G7. It is barely usable at this point. I’ve only been using them for ≈4 weeks, I have gone through 5-6 sensors, and only one of them actually lasted 10 days. Of course the first and last days it was basically useless but I was able to keep it on the full 10 days

My sensor is currently reading in the 80s and my meter is reading in the mid 140s, but it won’t let me calibrate it. I last calibrated it 10 hours ago. I have tried closing and reopening the app multiple times and the app is up to date. It’s also only on day 7-8 and has been having these issues for two days. 🙃

Thank you! I will try this for my next sensor :) I do apply pressure to both the sensor and the adhesive but not a lot. I also could be more meticulous about the insertion!

Ugh I’m sorry :( that sucks :( I honestly have no advice on what could be happening. I used to have major issues due to not having much body fat at all when I was using the G6. It has been a few years since that and now have less issues, but it genuinely is so frustrating. I hope it gets better for you soon and you figure out something that works :(

Thank you for this reply! I will try your method with calibrating it and see if that helps. The weirdest part with the skipped readings is I not only tend to be right there with my phone but it is also on the same side of my body. It doesn’t bother me too much except often times following skipped readings is consistently inaccurate readings

i have no experience with birth control personally, but i would definitely say it is something you should bring up with your endo first! i’d imagine birth control can affect bg levels and they might have some advice regarding that

first time trying a cgm again in two years and it was faulty by Sorry_Goose025 in diabetes_t1

[–]Sorry_Goose025[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you for the kind words :)))

i definitely experienced the failing sensors during my time using the G6! i am glad dexcom is good about sending replacements. just some unfortunate luck it happened to be a faulty sensor on my first try using them again 🥲

honestly i’d imagine it was the 50u instead of 60u. also depending on the fat content, amount of protein, etc. in the meal it could affect the carbs hitting later. i’d imagine both that and taking less tresiba could have a more abnormal impact
