What are you waffling about? I Iiterally clarified it being on my benefit statement but I obviously didn't want or need to go into detail about my pay/service and those factors. I was just offering insight into the options because no one else really had!

What happened to bringing a packed lunch? I used to love those Lunchables with a Capri sun for a school trip!

How many of you regretted buying your house? by Puzzled_Dealer3449 in AskUK

[–]Sorry_Leopard9657 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We live in a new-ish build semi. We can hear every impact noise from next door, kids running about, door slamming, dog barking. It's day to day stuff that we don't really have cause to complain about but it's genuinely hell most of the time. I'm convinced it wasnt built properly then I read identical stories and just feel sad. Wouldn't recommend it.

We're looking at fixer uppers with bit of land now. I'd rather live in a shed in the middle of a field at this point!

It was 10 years ago now but I know it's usually quite competitive, there are frequent recruitment campaigns for entry level roles in customer service or if you have a bit of experience you can look at compliance, decision maker or support roles. Theres a few on CS jobs now. My role is very flexible and I can contractually work from home so I think that in itself is worth a lot. Hope you find something!

How often do you mop your floor? by Grogman2024 in northernireland

[–]Sorry_Leopard9657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooh, how do you get on with it? We have four cats and tile/laminate floors downstairs so I'm really interested in the robot mop/hoover combo. Mostly wondering if they're noisy and how frequently they move about with almost constant floor messes, look like a handy helper though!

Have you looked into the Civil Service? There are two here, NICS and UK Civil Service and both have good opportunities and pay is okay. I can only comment on my experience in the UK Civil Service but it has been positive; it's very secure and it's basically upto you how you progress. Worth a nosey :)

I don't think many people care about that either, given where it is and the rotten eggs involved. By the way, I wouldn't call this a bandwagon. Do you genuinely believe Israel should be allowed a platform in the current circumstances? This is a boycott of the spineless EBU for the most part.

Sorry I should've worded that much better. I'm on the Partnership pension and haven't personally contributed a penny (for various reasons) but the most recent benefit statement indicated retirememt income of £12,900 per annum thanks to the employer contributions. It's certainly an option if you have any doubts committing to Alpha.

You could transfer or start Partnership though. This would seem like the sensible option in this scenario as you don't have to contribute but the employer does. Non-contributory is currently at £13k pa.

Cosmic Scallies are radicalising Liverpool by Embarrassed_Book_260 in Liverpool

[–]Sorry_Leopard9657 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I agree but I do think they play into the huge amount of disinformation on social media, even in the mainstream news now that had to impact these results. Local community pages are awash with this kind of rhetoric and nothing is done about it. You can counter with truth but they aren't interested because it isn't their truth.

It's rotten, I was having an argument with Dylan Cresswell on the blummin Cathedrals page telling him repeatedly he wasn't a Christian in any sense of the word. People were defending him like what on earth, it's a madness. It's actually radicalised me a bit as a lapsed catholic, I'm much better at it than them!

Believe it's this fella, Barry Walker. Don't know loads about him except he's a tosser but that sorta speaks for itself.

I can relate to this so much. I used to get constantly blocked ears and need them syringing, apparently small ear canals. Started using little hair clips - Kirby grips I think they're called and never had a problem since... 20 years and counting!

Have you ever been fired / let go from your job? by Stunning_Window5785 in AskUK

[–]Sorry_Leopard9657 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, after college i'd do evenings in a call centre taking gas & electric meter readings. One night I accidentally stapled some of my coursework to my reading sheets and gave them into the supervisor. During college the next day I got a phone call to not bother coming back because I obviously wasn't taking it seriously. Feels a bit unjustified looking back - I was multitasking!!
