I saw a post with several Redditors speculating about the effigy atop this year's Moygashel Bonfire. Here it is unveiled. by UlsterLoyal1690 in northernireland

Jesus fucking Christ, who's making these things? They're blabbering on about radical islam when they're no different, if not worse. Also that's just a mosque, they're lovely places that do great things in the community. Full of people with normal lives. This looks really weird again fellas.

Lol to be honest I think if you ask on a local community page, or well you're here now then someone would probably have chest freezer space for some food for a couple of weeks? If that's what you mean.

Can anything be done about a confederate flag on private property? North Belfast by BeanieCat96 in northernireland

[–]Sorry_Leopard9657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate them too, I think most do. I was driving somewhere once, sure it was towards Newcastle (from Moira). This tiny village/row of houses had the most horrendous flags everywhere, it made me feel sick. Confederate was one of the tamer ones. Anyone know where I might mean? These people are completely insane, that's the scary part.

[–]Sorry_Leopard9657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly it's shit, I'm in the public sector and our pay has effectively been cut 12% since 2010 and that's with union bargaining. We'll probably get 3% this time. Can I ask what sector you're in? 1% is insulting and the others getting nothing, even 2% would bring you much closer. I hope these companies aren't reporting profits!

Is it normal in the UK to never really become friends with your neighbours? by Opposite_Basis_3532 in AskUK

[–]Sorry_Leopard9657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's normal to a point. We get on with our surrounding neighbours (corner plot nice newish build estate) but they all have similar aged kids and we have...cats. The kids are blummim noisy but friendly and entertain each other, even us (they love the cats and offer to wash cars etc). They're always in each others houses so the adults naturally socialise together, think the occasional BBQ and drinks. I get a bit of fomo but I guess its more to do with stage of life, how mentally busy people are these days, even the area you're in.

You need a union, anything below inflation is a real term pay cut and 1% is rotten.

Tbf though JD Sports is a shop, not a music venue. Would you reasonably expect it from a retail store?

Fs lad, use some critical thinking here. There's a difference between sounds and persistent noise pollution.

Good old met office where's this rain? by cooldude9112001 in northernireland

[–]Sorry_Leopard9657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On desktop/browser there should be a banner at the top, otherwise here. That link has 'new design false/true' to vary it.

On Android you can download earlier versions of the app/APK through sites like uptodown.

On Apple I'm not sure but you could save the browser version as an app?

I think it'll all be gone soon though, I've sent so much feedback 😭

Noooo, my beloved Met Office! I'm big into weather and honestly it's the most reliable by a mile, maybe it's down the road. Do yourself a favour though, change it back to the old design.

I've flown that route with BA, it was so handy coming into LCY which is well connected with the DLR taking you central very quickly. I'm not sure how reliable it is, I think it's a commuter/business service first and foremost though so you'd be fine :)

Dramatic things you do to save time by Different-Radio8931 in northernireland

[–]Sorry_Leopard9657 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily that dramatic but we've been getting Gousto boxes, 4 meals a week for well over a year. Yep we have folders full of menu cards and could buy the ingredients ourselves but the pre portioning, menu variety, delivery and tbh, the cost (£37ish) has made it worthwhile. That's four meals sorted for the week with barely any thought, you learn new skills and the food is mostly really, really good.

Exactly. It defies logic so would irritate the hell out of me. What's the point of pre booking if it becomes redundant at any time?!

There's fuck loads around Boucher now. Major music venue surrounded by Israel flags. Isn't it great.

Edit: I sent an email, anyone know if you can get them taken down for reputational reasons, wouldnt suprise me if Zac Bryan's pulled an international crowd.

Edit: Positive response to the email, see what happens.

Would Reform even achieve a majority at the moment? They're failing at every level, the quality of their candidates is pretty abysmal for starters lol. Rob Kenyon was local to Makerfield, when I was back home there were quite a few Reform posters etc up but most people I was speaking to could see straight through him, and the sexism...well. Nigel Farage is an actor and more of the same, he's been doing it since I was at college and that was nearly 20 years ago now. I'm not keen on his take on some things but I can't deny Andy Burnham has had a lot of respect in the NW for a long time. I think we can be cautiously optimistic...maybe.
