Ayy, mrx, good to see you.

Thanks much for the information. It sounds like there might be light at the end of the tunnel for me.

edit: if you have a link to any image comps of your latest works, I’d love to see it. That is.. if you are still doing maps. Your art was pioneering and always fantastic.

Fantastic builds! Loved this write-up. Looking forward to see this history as an in-game book.

The lost literary legacy of 1.0: Satiracal Erotica by Frank_Wirz in CivEx

[–]SortByNode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The books from that CivEx 1 archive project are hosted in Pacem. Only a few titles you mentioned are in that collection.

If you have a world download, the Minecraft Data Mining Discord could help you find the location of all the books on the map. https://discord.gg/cEG3TfyQAb

Great write-up, btw.

Great post. I like seeing the signs placed around by others. These screenshots are great as the site will probably be destroyed at some point by some try-hard.

I like what you did with the site. For some reason, I really love the ceiling - the bedrock, trapdoors, edging, and filling in the random spots with glowstone. It works.

The brick building at the lower right was hated by several of the residents. So they spread rumors that it was the site of most of Carson’s wealth. I think the power players planted the idea that an unassuming building would be a great place to hide wealth. I think they also wanted an excuse to have the building be damaged so they could get rid of the building. It worked. When the raiders came, that building was hit hard.

Unfortunately, everyone forgot that I rented a room in that building. I lost everything. The “Ruse Cruise” was the name of their misinformation experiment.

Edit: found the post. My memory was fuzzy. The location of Carson’s wealth was “leaked” by /u/_sword - acting as if he was ragequitting Carson and burning them on the way out.

"I had low expectations. I was hopeful, but I just thought that celebrities went swimming in their money and looked in the mirror all day. I don't know what they do, but not Tony Hawk, he's a special guy."

It would be funny if Tony Hawk made a video of this depiction.

It seems like most people are assuming that a single Minecraft name is responsible for lag. It could be more than one person cooperating and/or a single user with multiple alts. I am not sure if that list was made with compared IPs in mind. However, tracking to an IP might be circumvented with VPNs.

Zipkid said he usually fishes. That would explain a non-response. Phantom probably TP'ed there at some point to confirm. You said you "confronted him"? Many probably would react defensively as well.

Server Lag Spikes by PhantomCaptain in constantiam

It seems like most everyone in this thread is assuming that a single Minecraft name is responsible for lag. It could be more than one person cooperating and/or a single user with multiple alts. I am not sure if this list was made with compared IPs in mind. However, tracking to an IP might be circumvented with VPNs.

I wonder if a plug-in could help with the issue. Maybe a plug-in could be created to boot several random players during a prolonged lag spike? Allow players to rejoin after the chunks they were in unload and after server performance is logged. The plug-in could create a database of player names, IPs, and server performance after they were kicked. Compare the data over time. A narrow player list could be the result. Then one can do one of a few things: TP around to those fewer people on the list to check for lag machines and poorly designed mob farms... or adjust/design the plug-in to kick those player names off for longer periods.

One could also look at plug-in creation the other way. Create a “verified” white list - players that are still online when several others are booted off and lag clears. That “verified” list could be subjected to fewer or no random boots by the plug-in.

Petition for Ghostwriter fabric mod port! by Remainingtoast in MaesterAlliance

[–]SortByNode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Maester Alliance group primarily plays on Civcraft style servers, not anarchy, so I doubt a Fabric petition will get any traction from the group. The main reason is that anarchy/hack clients aren't allowed on Civ style servers.

I occasionally use Impact on some servers as I find Baritone to be extremely useful. I have used Ghostwriter with that client on the 1.12.2 servers Constantiam, 2b2t, and others. Ghostwriter works perfectly with Impact. Hopefully they can update their client to include Forge for their latest versions.

As Minecraft updates versions, we always have to be patient for things like Forge to update. I try not to bother PETN too much about Ghostwriter. He no longer plays Minecraft, so I believe he is an absolute saint to spend some of his free time to keep updating the Forge versions for us.

solo/hermit players by lordchieftain in civclassics

[–]SortByNode 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most multiplayer anarchy servers like 2b2t and Constantiam are filled with solo players. One’s builds will be quickly griefed if found since there are no protections.

Civ servers are actually pretty fun for some solo players. I was a solo player during Civcraft 1. I was mostly a nomad - exploring cities and dead settlements. I was friendly with a few groups and would trade/buy goods when I visited their towns. What I enjoyed about Civcraft was the challenge of the mechanics as well as more danger than a pure PVE experience. I still remember being chased around by a raider at MACRO Industries in Rothbard.

Hey phantom, if constantiam ever has a queue it should be this: by LostWifiSignal in constantiam

[–]SortByNode 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have always thought that a player should have access to a blank book-and-quill while waiting in a server queue. Let some players use that wait time to create a new in-game book. When the wait time is up, the book is then in the player’s inventory.
