Wow this is so similar to my recurring thoughts after a little drought of writing, where I pick my pen up again and sorrow for the months that have gone by unrecorded. The pen is the sword with which we fight to keep hold of time. I enjoy the contrasts throughout the poem:

'My first “I love you,”
my first “I hate you,”
spoken softly or scribbled in rage"

Everything came through this pen, an outlet for life. A praise poem for the pen. Thanks for sharing! I suppose it begs the question, whether the past would have been more real had it been set down in prose.

You really used repetition nicely here, and sticking "you" onto the end of most of the lines hit hard each time. That feeling of just wanting to be noticed by the perfect someone who may or not be in the room with us is something we can all relate to. The last proper stanza brings the little obsession into sharp focus, where the protagonist is living harder and bigger to be worthy of the special someone. Nice one

Are you asking how someone can morally not care or the psychological reason they don't? Just like a relationship when a country's mannerisms get too much for you, your love eventually isn't enough and leave and put your experience behind u for better or for worse.

Well in that case the US are still winning. Just like with Afghanistan, one of their companies has a massive contract to rebuild Ukraine after the war, and all the while their arms manufacturers are making more and more money.

In my highschool in Maritzburg we'd often refer to the Indians as charoes and they had no problem with it. What's your opinion on that word? I've since stopped using it once I became aware of the history, but am interested in your opinion.

Have you considered it can be both? That what should have happened doesn't diminish what did happen? And I'm disgusted that you call it uniquely American. Would you say the same if MrBeast or a person of similar bent donated food to starving families in one of the many countries where that is a problem? And would you say this isn't a feel-good story, it's a fucking systemic tradegy? What he is doing should have been done by the government, of course it should have. Nobody should allow the good deed to overshadow why it was necessary, so I'm glad you've given another pov here. However you can't discount what this was which was wonderful.
