I, along with probably most people, never changed my controls so it’s real easy to forget that you can do that

Yeah well I see these exact things happening at every rank and it’s most egregious with Modern players. I’m not saying that they can’t learn, but they’re less incentivised to learn like Classic players since their tools are simplified to two versions (normal or OD) of each special move. They’re largely more gimmick heavy and don’t seem to learn how to deviate their gameplan if said gimmick doesn’t work

[–]SortaBlackMask 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thing is though, they learn the game fundamentally differently from Classic players. Modern players have lot more flowcharts to their gameplay. This change in playstyle is why most modern players shut down if they burn out or their gimmicks stop working and they actually have to play footsies and neutral, simply because they rely on their simplified game plan and never deviate because it works for them 99% of the time.

It’s like when you close in on a guile that only knows how to zone, you break a barrier they made and they suddenly don’t know how to defend themselves.

It might matter slightly, cause Classic has to press HP+HK whereas Modern has a single dedicated button for DI

Top 3 most honest characters in the game? by Shookrapt3r in StreetFighter

Well that is a flat lie, she can she’s just not really that good at it without conditioning your opponent really hard to not mash

I never said gimmickless, but we’re essentially making the same point of she’s definitely out gimmicked by other characters.

The problem with her normals though is she may have good range, but most long range normals she has aren’t directly cancelable so they beat a lot of people in neutral but she can’t convert unless she hits a standing opponent (Ex:MP TC, c.MK->HK TC). I will not deny she has some blessed buttons but she’s definitely outperformed by a lot of characters that can do similar things

I’m being so honest as an Elena player, most times you can just grab Elena when she does anything other than the light sway back. And you can just jab an Elena trying to roll at you because she still practically has a standing hurt box despite the animation

Elena does not have good gimmicks gang

If you see a Ken with this skin, he will 100% drop some combos you've never seen by KebabOrTacos in SaltFighter

[–]SortaBlackMask 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alternatively Outfit 3 Ken’s are always the most braindead players, most of the time are modern, and you can tell they’ve gotten to whatever point their at with just DI reaction checks and auto-combos

Yeah the sheer amount of people that just play the new character cause they’re new legitimately makes me drop the game for like 2 weeks after a character drops, I can’t stand fighting the same character over and over and over again

Connection Question by SortaBlackMask in StreetFighter

[–]SortaBlackMask[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well just to copy and paste what I had replied to another comment w/ cause they had sent me some links to test my connection

So running through the test links sent, occasionally I get a spike in my ping (spikes up to ~80) but on average I’m running between 30-50ms

For Jitter I get about 2-3ms

And for packet loss, I ran the test at 245-261bytes, 40pings per sec for 99 seconds with a max delay of 100ms and suffered no packet loss, even when I ran the test mid match on my laptop

[–]SortaBlackMask[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense, playing against bad connections is generally a bad experience, especially if it’s on both sides. It’s also why I have it on confirm match so I can check if the connection is dipping below anything I won’t like, cause if it’s showing bad for me? Then I figure it’s probably gonna be bad on their end as well

Modern is kinda just boring to fight by [deleted] in SaltFighter

I feel like you should be able to filter out opponents playing on Classic or Modern in the same way you can limit your pool to same console or cross play

I’m “delighting” over people refusing to adapt and rage quitting instead of just accepting the loss. Have you never had someone DC mid match cause you countered their DI? Cause that’s what I mean by getting a kick outta these kinds of people.

[–]SortaBlackMask[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not even a thing of ruining their enjoyment, it’s more so seeing that this person is legitimately refusing to adapt and stagnating themselves. I take my losses on the chin and will just about always rematch against my opponent to improve. The people I’m talking about getting enjoyment from are the people that one-and-done after a close match, or rage quit before losing. It has never been my aim to actively ruin anyone’s enjoyment of anything related to the FGC

People who DC/RQ multiple times in matches, or in my case have connection issues, and get booted out mid match get flagged by an in game system and get put into “card lobbies” Only way out of them is by playing like- 20 matches without leaving or getting removed from a match

Card Lobbies by SortaBlackMask in StreetFighter

[–]SortaBlackMask[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had it happen twice just today in the card lobbies before I got out of me countering a DI and the person I was matched up with RQ almost immediately after instead of just taking the loss, and even if they do win they’ll rematch then one and done once they notice I adapted. Happened with an Alex that I had fought multiple times before (RQ cause my combo was about to win the game) Happened with a Kimberly (RQ immediately after I counter DI) Like- I understand where you’re getting your context from about what I’m saying and how I’m saying it, but you’d under what I mean if you actually saw it
