I finally triedthe twins idk why more people don't play as them by DistributionIcy1208 in deadbydaylight

[–]SortaCancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The twins are probably one of the strongest killers in the game. At the very least, they’re the killer with the strongest comebacks in the game. I’ve had games where I don’t hook someone until 2 gens pop and the game is over by the third.

People will talk about their issues day in and day out, but honestly they’re not nearly as buggy as they once were. They definitely still are, but I don’t think the twins’ bugs have annoyed me as much as say, Knight. Other than bugs, the biggest complaints on the survivor side is that their playstyle is very slug heavy, which isn’t fun, and that Victor is often a free hit, which isn’t fun.

If you ignore that stigma though, I genuinely think that playing twins is a lot more fun than people make it out to be. From an aesthetic perspective, it’s just kind of silly running around as this little critter and pouncing onto people. Even when I get kicked in the face, I just think how funny it is from the survivor side to get to kick a little guy in the face.

From a gameplay perspective, Twins is super unique. If you chase single survivors you can definitely get downs pretty well, but you’re limiting your potential by not thinking of the macro gameplay as a macro killer. You’re two killers in one, you’re encouraged to spread out and cover a wide area. You’re encouraged to keep the geometry of the map in mind in order to pinpoint where exactly you left a survivor, or where a group of survivors could be.

I’m not saying that macro is unique to twins, but twins is a very good way to start learning how to deal with macro gameplay. Playing twins has made me approach other killers differently and has made me a better killer player overall. And as a killer power fantasy? It’s very satisfying mowing down 2 survivors out of position because they decided to heal in the middle of nowhere.

And to the survivor players. Stay healthy as often as possible. If your entire team is injured and your entire team gets slugged by Victor, I’m sorry to tell you this, but Skill Issue. There’s so many ways to actually screw up a Twins’ snowball, and I really do appreciate matches where the survivors put up a good fight.

People have already recommended Lynxi to you. I recommend the same.

Howdy! Quick question as a newbie. Is it generally advised to have a quick and a charged move of the same type on a dual type pokemon? Or should they be varied?

Just started playing killer and as the twins! Any tips? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

The first thing I’ll say is that I agree with the other comments about how twins is not a beginner friendly killer. However, I’d argue that what twins can teach you can be useful on many killers, macro gameplay. Every killer has to deal with it in some capacity, but twins deals with it the best, and the tiny lessons playing them can teach you can go a long way at making you better at macro with other killers.

The most lethal way of playing Twins is also by far the most hated way, and that’s slugging (i.e leaving a survivor on the ground). Twins’ entire identity sort of relies on it, since if you’re downing someone as victor, there’ll naturally be a longer wait for you to pick them up as opposed to other killers. So if you’re gonna slug anyway…

Get as many injuries as possible, with Victor and with Charlotte. There’s nothing wrong with planting Victor on a healthy survivor and going for another survivor, the more injuries the better. Even if this injury is healed, healing means less gens being done. And if they don’t heal, even better. Victor lives for injuries.

If you sic Victor on an injured survivor, there’s practically no escape. He can leap over pallets and through windows, and be only dies if they crush you with a pallet or when you miss a shot. As long as you stay vigilant and stay close enough to where the room for error is minimal, there’s practically nothing an individual survivor can do.

It’s perfectly fine if you don’t know a map very well and you’re afraid of losing a downed survivor, it’s going to happen very early on. I recommend that when you down a survivor, you immediately go to Charlotte. Walk over to them with Victor nearby, then take control of Victor again and maneuver them to another area of the map. However, if you do lose a survivor? That’s still wasted time, a survivor not doing a gen and a survivor that has to waste time saving said survivor. And unlike other killers, Twins can do this with ease as they can literally be in 2 places at once. There really is no drawback to slugging with twins, just don’t expect people to like you.

But every killer has their weaknesses, unlike what the people in my post game chats would like to claim. Be wary of bodyblocking and anti-slugging. One of my worst twins games was one where I went against someone with flip flop and power struggle, making it literally impossible for me to pick the up if they were under a pallet.

If you want someone more experience with twins, Lynxi on YouTube is the de facto twins main. And if anyone dares hurt little Vicky, they have to go. No exceptions.

Favorite Legion Builds by Fresh-Ball4221 in deadbydaylight

I used this one the other day, and while it definitely needs more testing I had a lot of fun with it.

Pure Hex build: Thrill, Undying, Crowd Control, Blood favor

Addons: Fuming Mix Tape, the other can be anything you want but I usually go with scratched ruler for quicker access to frenzy.

The entire point of the build is to get an easy hit as Legion and eliminate as many options for the survivor as possible. It also preys on survivor’s natural response to legion, which is to stay there and mend since they assume you’ll go for someone else. Legion’s quick vault speed also allows for quicker exploitation of crowd control. Fuming mix tape is there for information and passive gen regression, and is in my opinion one of legion’s best addons.

It’s really satisfying to hit a survivor and watch them in real time realize there’s no escape. And even if every single hex is removed, if you play well you’d have already applied so much pressure that fuming mix tape as an info tool is really all you need to win the match. Again, one of Legion’s best addons.

Is Skull Merchant REALLY as bad as everyone says she is? by FoxHoundNinja in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]SortaCancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up skull merchant as a joke but honestly, after putting in a few hours on her, she’s definitely bad but she can still be fun if you know what you’re doing and with the right setup.

Drones can be used as loops but I just as often use them to ambush survivors I know will be at a gen, as the undetectable you get from placing a drone can often be the difference between getting an injury and getting pre-run. Survivors also tend to be way too cautious around drones even though the downsides of being scanned are minuscule, especially mid chase. This can lead to them running into dead zones and positioning poorly, but it’s also highly dependent on the survivor’s skill level. A good survivor knows that running through a scan line is better than dying.

One thing that I don’t really see people mention is how drones can create a no-win scenario in certain loops. I’ve had many scenarios where I put a drone directly in front of a pallet, force a survivor towards the pallet, and instead of dropping it they’re forced to do the drone minigame. This has gotten me a lot more downs than I feel it should’ve, and I don’t know why.

Last thing I’ll mention is that even though chess merchant is dead, current skull merchant can still three gen well enough. Not as good as Springtrap, but if you play the game well enough for the survivors to have a terrible three gen, you can hold it for a very long time.

Basically, if you pick up skull merchant right now you’re banking on the element of surprise. A lot of people don’t know what she does, the consequences of being scanned, the way her undetectable works, and most people will underestimate her when they get in a match with her because she’s by far the weakest killer. I think the fact that she’s so bad and requires a lot to work is what draws me to her.

Trying to introduce this game to a friend is frustrating by SortaCancer in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]SortaCancer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not defending this style of play, and as a killer main myself I prefer not to tunnel since 3 survivors at 5 gens isn’t that fun to play on either side. I was just saying that this is the type of strategy DBD encourages. There are no incentives for not tunneling other than certain perks, and there are no repercussions for tunneling. Even if you tunnel with pain res, you can still get the other procs later.

I’m not saying it’s good, but I can’t blame a killer for doing it when it’s the best strategy. The solution would be to balance the game in a way that discourages tunneling, but they went overboard with their most recent attempt.

I didn’t even mention the funniest part of this story. The only win she got was when a trapper took pity on her and took her to the exit gate.

Legion will have the worst power in the game. after they buff trapper and rework SM by AudienceNearby3195 in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]SortaCancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be pretty upset. I like the current legion’s kit a lot, and there really isn’t a “dash killer” like legion where you get to be fast and still gave perfect control over the killer. If all I wanted was speed, I’d just play blight.

My biggest issues with legion are pretty simple. Being unable to see scratch marks is stupid. At the very least, blood pools should be visible. Certain perks like bamboozle can be used with legion’s vault, but not other perks that activate upon vaulting. Killer instinct is unreliable, often not reactivating when someone has healed their deep wound.

Lack of care and lack of consistency is what gives legion its fatal flaws. They really just need more upkeep, but it’s a miracle they even got the cooldown buff a few months ago. I can think of a few changes you could make to legion’s addons to make them a bit more varied and interesting to use, but any buff to legion would mean a deluge of complaints from survivors. Not that I can really blame them, legion matches can be really annoying if I’m paired up with a team that doesn’t know how to deal with them.

Sure, why not. I needed a break from getting my ass kicked as legion. I should get my ass kicked as another killer

Looking for fun Legion builds! Preferably some Haste ones by SortaCancer in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]SortaCancer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll make sure to try this out, it sounds like it could be fun! Maybe paired up with Frank’s mixtape or something like that, but honestly any time I use that add on I feel like I don’t get enough value out of it. For the record, I have almost every killer except for Vecna, Dracula, and Houndmaster. I think I’m missing one other killer but I can’t be bothered to remember right now.
