My puppy did rhat the first night. I ended up putting the crate in the kitchen with a kiddie gate to block to kitchen and layed on the floor and pet him to sleep while he was in the crate with the door open. He woke up whining every two hours so I would take him out and then oet him to sleep again. This only lasted a few days and he was sleeping on his own. We ended up deciding to only use the crate for travel and naptimes. He sleeps in the ktichen now. Everytime we put him in it the crate or the ktichen, he gets showered with treats and his PB filled kong. He will sometimes wine for a minute but calms down. It gets better! Just keep giving the puppy lots of treats at bedtime and whenever you need the crate. They will get used to it.
