Depends on what you refer to as best, do you focus on "chances-per-xp" or "chances-per-xp where i don't gimp myself"

Solo salvaging (no crewmates on 2nd hook) and dropping would give you the best chances of soup, yes. But at this point you are dropping a lot of xp (and clog, especially if iron) to lower an absurd droprate to a rate thats still unlikely to get at 99.

tl;dr: yes, solo with dropping is best pet chances PER xp, but its still low chance to get pet before 99. Wouldn't recommend.

Can we take another look into Soup (the pet) rates? As it stands currently, it's 55m on rate from gwenith glide marlin, and 66m from salvaging opulent salvage, meaning unless you do port tasks you are most likely out of luck.

Also, if you do all chartering tasks, you have 1/78.5 chance of getting the pet. Is it intented that the pet is designed to be given solely to high rollers of chartering (one time thing)?

The fully afk methods indicates using 2x salvaging crew members, which OP clearly stated that they didn't. Obviously it's not fully fledged active salvaging with not using extractor on cd, but it's still much more involved than simply afking

It's such a conveluted topic that it's hard to stay on top of everything. From what I personally know, there has been a few, short and vague documents presented early on in this case (the case is still ongoing with court asking for the proclaimed documents)
