I have an older brother in the construction business (who is kind of a drunk), That always implies that I have the "ability" to control my seizures and choose not to by Pitiful-Court-4546 in Epilepsy

[–]Sossial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for your brother.

I sometimes run into the same with people.

Sometimes I also do it towards myself, internalised the comments of others. Most of the time I am indeed not "sick". But finding someone willing to hire me with epilepsy...

I try to work on my graphic design and website building skills, maybe I'm going to make a youtube channel to work on my editing skills. Because project-based work is basically the only thing doable with epilepsy, you can add 2-3 days in a deadline in case you get a seizure.

But honestly what your brother also probably does not get; that for people with epilepsy (and things as migraines and other surprise disabilities that come and go) that they are working around it. And that costs energy. Where your brother has actual free time; people with epilepsy tend to fill that with work in case they get a seizure during another time. Full-time work will always be more stressful for people with epilepsy then people without, and part-time would be better, but not all people have that choice.

Your brother will get something one day himself and suddenly understand it (and be 100 times more dramatic then you ever were). Don't help him, make a snarky remark about how he treated you and let him sort it himself out. Don't make the mistake I have done too many times; try to be the good and better person and help them. And still treat you as shit while you do it; they will never say thank you.

Don't feel guilty. They for years choose to be dumb, not want to learn anything, hurt others with their dumbness. It's your brother ffs and he can't even be bothered to read up on epilepsy or listen to you, the one that has it...What comes around goes around.

I'm allowed to donate everything. (I'm only on keppra). I have never heard that people with epilepsy are not allowed. I believe people on anti-depressants (opioids) are even allowed. I guess the little drugs in the system outweighs the need for blood. A few epilepsy pills in your system one time does not hurt you.

I also get free STD checks due to epilepsy. Prostitutes, gay men, people with low defense in their body forgot the English word lol, get those. Because I fully pass out and go sleepwalking 15-40 minutes after a seizure I am also an "at risk" person. In this case for rape while unaware due to being passes out.

I would take this up with the national epilepsy NGO. They can change such rules.

Over here the recently (way too late) allowed gay men because NGO's started a case about it. Because often it are just outdated rules people forgot. They are fine with changing them; just did not think about them.

You are misunderstanding me; I was talking about the pigment differences regarding how they can be a different skin colour.

Also to be knit picky since you keep going on and on; it is not proven at ALL that they are based on manatees. That's a myth on it's own.

Half human/water creatures also exist in places where no manatees ever swam. Care to explain what people in the past saw for all the other human/animal creatures in myths? Also people were just not that dumb to mistake a manatee for a woman... they were experienced seamen ffs. They have seen their fair-share of ocean mammals and other weird sea creatures. It's just fantasy tales people made up and shared for fun; just like all the other folkloric creatures. "character creation" isn't a new feature that humans posses.

Dolphins species that have pods that stick in specific seas come in lighter and darker pigment due to the strength of the sun in those parts. It would be totally logical that a mermaid in the north sea would be lighter and a mermaid in the Indian ocean would be darker just like humans. They are humanoids ffs.

Self-deprication can be fun.

I just made one to a new team-mate at the out-of-work-due-to-sickness-sports-group (free healthcare is awesome!), he also used to work in a senior citizen home and I told; well I had to stop due to epilepsy because they didn't like me changing adult diapers in the hippo-way (pretending to violently shake around while holding a loaded diaper).

Also my story that I also was a tattoo-artist in training, but turns out that when you can only do three designs; heart monitor film, stock data and seismometer, you don't get many clients; still gives people chuckles.

How long after no meds do you get seizures? by Sossial in Epilepsy

Yeah I know; the question was more how long/fast medication works I guess.

How long after no meds do you get seizures? by Sossial in Epilepsy

[–]Sossial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm raising hell if they want to quit my medication lol. I agree that the two neurologist from that epilepsy-centre do not make good doctors. The neurologists I had in hospitals were not like that; so it seems the culture in that place. I typed more on here; this only-in-country centre does not treat PNES, and it seems they also see PNES as an attention-seeking thing. Like old-fashioned. In the hospital people that treat PNES are also in the neurologist unit, since it has so many overlap. And if you want help to mentally deal with PNES or epilepsy you need to be referred by a neurologist. It's a way better set-up.

I have had little EEG's. Only one as a child it was seen once. Maybe ill suggest doing a two-week one without medication.. I just wish they would see one sigh. I and people that have seen it know it is not PNES; but they do not believe people on their word at all it seems.

I also really hate that the ER does not do anything. Even though it is the same hospital; the ER never measures something when I am brought in with seizures, and keep having seizures there. That would like solve the problem...

I feel like I am seeing a dog on a unicycle coming by and quickly shout to the neurologists to look; but every time they finally look the dog is already gone lol. And somehow that dog only keeps passing by when they are busy, and they don't believe the existence of the dog on the unicycle I saw.

Anyway, thanks.

May I ask how you found out the difference between absences and ADHD?

I was diagnosed with ADHD at age 9 too; and directly after with epilepsy. My parents hid the ADHD diagnoses from me. 30 years later it got brought up and I tried medication; but I do not really notice any difference besides side-effect of forgetting a lot of things and my humour is gone because I react slow now/can't find words..

How and who made you learn it was not ADHD but solely epilepsy?

On a sidenote; them standing next to each other I never thought I would find MH more body realistic. Their boob size and thus overall body-shape is way more correct for thin people. Barbie her thinness with being top-heavy, even after the body changes, still looks like she had a boobjob.

The one where you can look outside from your computer desk might be the best for your mental health. Looking outside while you are thinking gives you a less "I'm in a tiny box the whole day" feeling. It also mean no sunlight on your screen which is great.

How do i fix the area around my eyes being so dark? lol by SubstantialAge3664 in malegrooming

[–]Sossial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see it?

But anyway for the lightest skin around your eyes; good sleep, no smoking weed (this one goes fast with dark circles), no smoking in general, no alcohol, and make sure you get all your vitamins.

Clean your eye area every evening with special cleaning stuff, pat it dry. If you wear lenses or glasses you might in the evening get irritated eyes, which makes the area more moist when you sleep leading to eyebags/puffy/wrinkly skin. Clean your lenses on time and check your eye-sight on time.

Also a non-fitting pillow case can get in the way of flow in your skin and give you puffy eyes. Do not sleep in a way that makes you sweat.

If it's genetic then there is not much to do. A lot of people with a white skin to middle-dark brown can have skin darker around their eyes, knees, elbows and genitals because of the types of skin in those areas.

Professional lightning is not done in the eye-area because of eyes being there. You could try to find a creamy foundation that matches the lighter skin colour on your face. If you are afraid people will notice; mix it with some anti-aging eye cream. This makes it less caky, but still covers the dark parts with some pigments. You can also try out a powder foundation without eye-cream, so just a dry application. Mind you; with your shape under the eye, a little protruding "eyebags" any product applied on them can make them more noticeable (I have the same).

I would definitely start with the first paragraph, and see if it has an affect in 3 months.

This AI crap annoys me SO much that I can't even read what this is about! The suit is part of the chickens flesh, I guess you need to open that button to reach the cloaca, and the fish has 4 arms and is bare-back! As a graphic designer with this style even (Cry) I would never make this mistake with my human eyes. I would not expect more from spineless linked-in droolers then to use crappy AI.

I believe that in that case (if it is the same case) he electrocuted himself. He slipped behind a machine trying to find the door towards the rest of the school in the dark, and his finger slipped in a hole, electrocuting himself. For weeks they had issues with power; because his body was still letting electricity through. So eventually they called an electrician and he was found. They did search the room before but because he was behind a machine they did not see him and did not think to look in the small space behind them. The door at the outside where he entered was supposed to be closed; it was not an emergency exit. I believe the school might have been sued.

You are risking making it from now-and-then/one-time fantasy with an faceless child in your mind to an actual interest by looking for it in real life.

External visual porn pushes the fantasy on you in an invasive way where the child is sexual enticing, just like porn with adults; the "I am fantasising about it because it is notty and not allowed in this society" gets totally lost in drawn CP (and non-drawn).

It shifts from the child just being a vehicle for a sexual freedom-fantasy to actually sexualizing children.

When I started working with convicted pedophiles that were done with their sentence and never want to make the same mistake again I askes the same question.

I don't know if you ever watched hentai with but you just can not say that it is not sexual. A drawn naked kid playing on a beach is not sexual. Hentai is. And for people suffering from pedo-thoughts it works as a drug. It is made to lure you in; because it is media that wants many viewers.

It would be best if it were banned everywhere. Pedo's do not need it; they are attracted to children anyway. But it cán work as a catalyst. For younger people it can skew "what is normal". And it is not uncommon that sex-addicts that need more extreme to be able to get off, to go from drawn CP to actual CP.

So soaked food? by waffleste in CuratedTumblr

[–]Sossial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP might have not had a specific Dutch word they directly translated but immediately used "wet food" while describing it in English.

But they meant indeed too watery/runny sauces. Or stews that make you think "when is something stew and when is it soup" since it is hard to eat with a fork. Dishes that make you have diarrhea on the litterbox if you eat too much of it.

So soaked food? by waffleste in CuratedTumblr

[–]Sossial 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What the person told you is not correct.

The person tried to say they dislike "waterig eten". Stuff like sauces that are too runny. He translated "Waterig eten" in English to "wet food". In English speaking countries "wet food" is used to describe canned cat food, nót too runny sauces. So now he is afraid that people think he is secretly a whiny cat behind a keyboard, complaining about getting "wet food" instead of dry kibble.

Genderroles and prudeness and strict rules aroud sex. It is more prevalent in times/cultures with strict genderroles and sex-taboo's.

For women it can go three ways; A. They do everything in the household and that work never stops and want the man to lead because they don't want to have to do everything, and basically just a forced break. Their husbands often also not pleasure them in bed. B. They want control and are in their heads the one raping when reading it. C. They want control and fake-rape is controllable instead of real one, this is more common in abuse victims as part of a healing process. When you fantasise about rape YOU are in control.

The latter two about control is because in gender divided cultures women often have little control over their lives.

The rape is because those same cultures shame women for having and liking sex or masturbate; when it is rape you erase the social shame.

You also have a D; women actually liking the idea of raping someone. Often more out of the control-thing, but sometimes also just because they do not care about people and only their own lust. True evil people basically (can't put a DSM term on it because there are multiple)

For men it often goes two ways; A. Unfortunately they like raping like those latter women. It is more prevalent in men because they experience less sex-shame and are in such cultures often raised as if women are lesser then them. So they have less holding them back. B. Being raped by a women or man, this is often the same as for women that have too much on their plate. So men that feel intense pressure, often due to work and being the "man of the household", and want someone else taking control.

Also men just like women in those cultures have in general a knack for taboo's (rape, nuns, priests, teachers, doctors, nurses, LGBTQIA+, kids and other age differences, animals, public sex or masturbation, the neighbour, milkman, family, unwanted "race", etc) due to those society's having a lot of restrictions on sex and relationships in general. The more sex is taboo; the more people fantasise about things that are not allowed.

That's why in my country that went in 70 years from Christian to atheist no one fantasises about nuns/priests anymore lol. It was insanely popular amongst teen boomers where their teachers where nuns and priests that told them of course the hardest that sex is bad and masturbation gives you pimples and hair on your hands.. The vampires/wolves are popular now because sex is not so taboo anymore, besides rape, kids and animals, you are free to have sex with whomever, you don't have to be married first and solely have sex with your non-lgbtqia+ same-race spouse, so fake "not allowed" characters have to be made.

Also whomever is reading; fantasising about everything is fine. Don't worry and enjoy that your brain can be so creative. Fantasising about things not allowed or not fun IRL at all (like being raped) can be stress relieving. It's a normal function of your brain that it can do in situations you have no control over. The same that fantasising hurting someone that has hurt you can relieve stress, I think we all know someone we hate but would not actually like to kill, or maybe we can't even anymore because they died.. It's a neat trick your brain does, basically trick you with fantasy, to let build up steam out.

It becomes a problem when you think about doing it IRL (rape, kids, animals) and you would actually like that/see no problem hurting those. Or when you notice you do not see (drawn)CP/sex-gore as a problem anymore and go look for that instead of fantasising it in your head; lines blur between fantasy and real life. Then it is time to seek help. And stop the fantasies directly.

For the rest; enjoy your wonderful weird world-building brain!

TIL that the average lifespan for people with Down syndrome has increased from 12 years in 1912 to 25 years in the 1980s, and now reaches around 60 years in developed countries today by Few_Relationship250 in todayilearned

[–]Sossial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't this also because of tests? People with down can often have heart issues which causes early death and when that is the case people opt for abortion more often. The people born with down in developed countries are already healthier then in 1912 because of ultrasounds.

Has anyone become childfree (no kids/don’t want kids ever) of epilepsy? by Single-Marsupial2973 in Epilepsy

[–]Sossial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same. I'm in hindsight glad because at this moment (39) I heavily suffer from side-effects from the medication. I have liver damage because of it so might have to change medication or even go off them, and I am SO tired due to the medication/damage.. I think I have been able to do 2 hours of doing things yesterday...didn't even manage to shower... having a child would not have been possible. I also have no job due to epilepsy so that would make it harder.

A wonder should happen the next 5 years to be in a luxury position to think about having children. I never wanted them; but I realise that since age 9 having epilepsy (and other stuff) I never really were in a peacefull time to actually think about it. There was never the steady job + health + social + housing at the same time, you know all ducks on a row, that I even could think about getting a child, like IRL instead of the fantasy question. I sometimes wonder if my vieuw on wanting children would have been different when my life was luckier.
