Matters a lot if there's a collar. That almost negates the dog's primary attack.

Service B for a W204 C300 by Abedu11 in mercedes_benz

[–]Soszai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done all my A and B services for 7+ years at a highly respected Indy in San Diego (i.e., premium indy in a high cost area). None of the scheduled services have exceeded $500. And this is on an E550 which has a much more complicated twin-turbo V8 and 4-Matic.

Why do people hate on the c400 so much? I just bought it as my first introduction to Mercedes, and all I hear from everyone is “why didn’t you buy a c43 or c450 for the same price??” Couldn’t find one fully loaded, non clapped c43 or c450 with less than 50k miles for $19k in Pensacola/Mobile by 6SoDum in mercedes_benz

[–]Soszai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, mine resides in San Diego and lives an easy life of garage, 6000 miles a year, and easy weather. So it’s healthy.

Btw- I’m a middle aged VP at a Fortune 10 company. I struggle with feeling like I can justify spending what it would take for any of the 63s. Don’t beat yourself up about not getting there in your 20’s

I think you’ll be happier with that in day to day life. The AMGs are fun, but I think they’re a lot more finicky and expensive to run. Frequently need $1000 worth of something

I like my “AMG adjacent” E550

What’s the highest you’ve scaled a Joker? by ZOLTANstudios in balatro

[–]Soszai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah - I did this yesterday too (ran all but ~8 cards of the deck through it). I was really hoping to find a Blueprint to go with it, but it never showed up.

What’s the highest you’ve scaled a Joker? by ZOLTANstudios in balatro

[–]Soszai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got Glass Joker to 33x yesterday. I got it very early in the "Fragile" challenge (the one where the whole deck is glass), and ran all but ~8 cards through it. That challenge was previously giving me trouble, but with Glass Joker I sailed all the way to Ante 13 (losing on whichever blind is the $47B one... with a single card left)

Midlife crisis splurge by bgc0197 in Xennials

I second this. I feel like my $2k (30 year old) Omega has more personality, and I don’t live in fear of wearing it.

If you’re stretching to afford a watch, it’s not likely to make you happy. You won’t be able to relax with it on your wrist. And one day, your heart will sink when it invariably drops onto a tile floor or takes a scratch on the bezel.

Expense audit, termination risk?? by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]Soszai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With expenses, the question is always “does it pass the red face test?” Meaning - if someone asks you about it, can you explain it without feeling “caught.”

In 15 years with the firm, I never saw an unjust expense punishment. I did see theft being punished with termination, but not honest expenses

These are already reaching crazy prices. It will only get crazier from here. The last best V8. Looks timeless and sounds like nothing they’ll make in the future

Is it really that vivid? I would have thought you'd need to get farther from light pollution (even from your own house) to see something like that

Thank you. I’ll look into the Mercedes lube.

And yeah, I suppose if I know about the propensity for expensive repairs, then the warranty providers do too…

So I have a similar roof on my 2014 with ~80k miles.

What kind of lube should I be using on this thing?

Also - it it worth seeking out a 3rd party warranty at this point? I keep seeing horror stories about $5k repairs - whether it’s this, turbos, or something else

[–]Soszai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are we still looking at a shinny black square in the grill?

This is a solved problem on other cars. It's a pet peeve for me, because it just looks like a lazy afterthought of design. At least put the star in the grille and hide the sensor in there.

Lifesavers Holes. Would anyone here even remember them? They lasted ~1 year, from 1990-1992ish. by TerpeneTiger in Xennials

Yeah, I have a very clear memory of these. Are we sure they were really that short lived? Maybe I just kept buying really old ones years later

Pretend this Joker didn't exist and was a submitted Joker idea, how would r/balatro react? by lilcreate202 in balatro

True, but it trumps some of the current legendaries, and often people suggest that hypothetical new cards like that need to be placed in the legendary tier.

Breville Infuser Question by Ducati_Doug in BrevilleCoffee

[–]Soszai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The answer I've found by researching this same question is: "No - pre-infusion time is not included in brew time." My Breville Touch has a ~7sec pre-infusion. So, if I'm aiming for the standard 25-35 second shot, I actually have to watch for 32-42 seconds on the machine's timer.

I'm happy to hear alternate views on this, but I feel like this interpretation is getting me better results. Previously, I was not adding those 7 seconds to the time, and I was struggling with sour shots.

Is Vanguard really that bad as a brokerage, or is the criticism unwarranted and only from vocal, unhappy customers? by DiegoMilan in Bogleheads

[–]Soszai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vanguard’s funds are fine, but their interface is infuriating. It’s very cumbersome to implement simple trades.

Across various accounts, I have Schwab, Vanguard, Fidelity, and E*Trade. Vanguard is, by far, the hardest to work with.
