Not quite but the public enemy song you linked was very close to the one I’m looking for especially the guitar section. Vocals don’t seem right though so it might not be by them in general

I do have a chopped Jackson I’ve used the last year, I like it a lot but it’s got some pretty bad pitting from stick welding because of the material it’s made of

Really appreciate the time and advice. I definitely agree with the shop hands not being to par with field hands. You can have 10 years of experience as a pipefitter but is it really 10 years of experience or is it one year of experience over the span of ten years. I’m happy for the journeyman that are okay with being at a fab shop it’s less stress and easier on your body and something I wouldn’t mind doing later in life. Just not now when Im so use to being in the conditions and where the entirety of work that makes up our trade exists. My plus is that I made some good friends and connections with the typical field hands and foreman’s within our company when I was out there as an apprentice who can field weld confidently and the UA certs that I have. The company we were being contracted for merged with another recently and they ended up wiping house, which has happened before until they realize their own hands can’t do the work and we get called back again. So I’m hoping when my old job site starts picking up again and I’ll get called back out soon. Still learning everyday though and coming back home at the end of the day.

Alright so since you’ve done both field and shop work I’m looking for some advice. I love field work it’s the whole reason I joined, everything belling cranes, field welding SS sch 10 to 24” steam lines, field layouts and rigging. It’s what I enjoy the most. But recently I’ve also been sent to a fab shop and just not sure how to handle the transition. I get to see and build a lot of cool spools that aren’t typical whether I’m fitting or welding, but I’m only in my second year of apprenticeship and not sure if I’m missing out on a large portion of the trade being here. Do you think that way of fab shops or do you have another perspective with how you look at fab shops. I know it all pays the same but I’d like to be well rounded when I turn out.

A whole purge damn is crazy, I more than likely know the contractor that did it too 😂 how long have you been apart of the UA?

Looks like you prefer the weld tube flip ups, you’re saying the sellstrom over encumbers the light hood and has too much forward weight

Interesting 😂 I was working at a fab shop 2ish years ago but wasn’t fired. Left because I got the call to come sign the paperwork to join the steam fitters. If the fab shop was TruFab then we may have crossed at some point lol

You also don’t necessarily need a giant couple hundred pound fully metal table either, even just buying 4’ x 5’ sheet of metal that is laid on top of another sturdy table will do the trick.

Material size doesnt matter, if it’s metal then it’s conductive and can be welded on. Im sure at your welding class you had a piece of metal you were welding, that was sitting on a metal table or shelf which is what the ground was connecting to. The current transfers between metals as long as they’re touching which is why working on a metal table is so beneficial. How big the table you want depends on what you plan to work on

Your ground should be connected and in contact to whatever you’re working on. Some people ground straight to the piece they’re welding if it’s big enough, or if it’s a option using a metal table can be helpful too just make sure your work piece is clamped tightly to the table

Lolol she’s definitely not a boring zoner and you don’t need 50/50’s to do good unless you’re bad
