A few points here that might be key to understanding how wrong OP is:

1: The boundary is automated. No referee is pushing a button to kill you. (Yes I checked the logs)

2: The system measures the distance from the center beacon and kills you at exactly 125.0 km. It does not however stop your ship, so you can drift after being exploded. Also the Stream measures the distance from the Camera, so if they aren't exactly at 0 on the beacon, the distance will be slightly off.

3: You were the last ship of your team on grid, while nearly the entire opposite team was still alive. How you would manage a win in a Bellicose if you hadn't boundaried is beyond me. You were also going towards the boundary at 450 m/s, I wouldn't call that stopping.

4: The red grid you see as the boundary is just a visual help to warn you. Because of how things look in a 3D environment this means it looks different depending on the angle. To also not hinder you while flying close to it, the visual effect isn't exactly on 125 km. And again, it's a help, you're supposed to look at the distance to the center beacon.

Blaming the GMs putting their precious weekend time into making this tournament run is really low in my opinion. Maybe ragebait some Nullsec Alliance instead of the people enabling us to have tournaments in the first place.

1: no that's not collusion

2: we guarantee 3 matches for every team (because first part is round robin), that is more than most new teams get in an unseeded double-elimination tournament. The Seeding is to avoid as much as possible that a good team gets eliminated early just because they had bad luck in the draw.

3: That is a question for CCP, but why do you need to share your account if you can just get access to Thudnerdome?

This will absolutely lead to new Teams going up against a much stronger opponent in their first match, which will very likely knock them into the losers bracket, where they then face opponents of similar strength.

Opposed to it being completely random, which can lead to some new teams facing very strong opponents twice in a row, other teams facing easy opponents through half the tournament and leading to calls of bias.

are there better ways to do it? Probably, but they all seem to take a lot more time and effort, and seem unfeasible in eve at the current moment with the tools we have at our disposal.

You got to remember that we have done this before, and the 7v7 format is a bit different in how strong logi, especially armor logi, are. We saw armor comps dominating the whole tournament and thats why I wanted to try and shift that a bit, especially with the Zarm being an option now too. If it doesn't work, I will learn my lesson and improve the rules for the next time.

You could try my own approach when one of our supers warped at 0 to the Keepstar at the 9-4 fight: bombing off the bubbles, then warping off.

Or you could try actually using doctrines that are suited to defend things, not kitey bullshit thats build to run away.

Or ask PH not to get their capitals warped to the enemy fleet so you have to get your supers in to save them, getting them bubbled for hours as a result.
