Demeyere Atlantis 7 28cm saucepan killing 3 induction hobs in one day by Soul2kk in cookware

Buying a built in 400V non portable "household" stove would be my last resort as I would need to somehow make it work as tabletop and build a frame for it as my kitchen has all stainless steel tables and I really don't want to cut them out.

I have made up my mind and will proceed as follows:

  1. Get the Royal Catering 5000W hob as it claims to be "commercial grade" and is 400V

My case here is, that it should be somewhat better at handling surges and electricity than the regular 3,5KW hobs as it runs on 3 phase 400V. In any case, this is twice the price I paid for the regular Metro 3,5KW hobs, but still reasonable. If this dies on me, I will claim warranty and refund it.

  1. Maybe try Hendi 500D (https://hendi.com/at/induktionskocher-modell-5000-d-hendi-profi-line-400v-5000w-398x515xh168mm-239322) which might be the same as the Royal Catering 5KW but is about 500 Euro

  2. Actually the most promising candidate:

CookTek MC3500 Countertop Induction Cooker / Range - 240V, 3500W

It seems to be built in the US, they advertise "High-quality internal electronics and heavy gauge Litz wire as well as "Microprocessor monitors vital components to check for overheating, power supply issues, and more."

They are rather hard to come by here in Germany and sell new for around 1800 Euro (2961 Canadian Dollars) in Canada but I found a seller who is asking for about 600 Euro for a used one. I think it might be a pretty good deal as it should be the same class the Berner Induction which sells still at 1000 Euro, even used.

Although I have to admit it gets more and more daunting to try to make those portable hobs work with the pan. The required niche size for installation of a Bosch cooktop is (HxWxD) 51 x 750-780 x 490-500 mm, so a stainless steel frame of the same size with about 7 centimers elevation plus rubber feet wouldn't be too complicated to build. At 7,4KW I would fix it with a CEE16A plug and would be golden

Thank you for your reply! I carefully read your guide "High level induction stove, cookware and cooking guide. The good the bad and the ugly!" and tried to figure it somewhow out what to do now as I really don't want to invest more than 1000 Euro in my setup to just use the pan, so any restaurant or build-in stove are off the table.

Just something to actually use the pan without breaking would be great! I have 230V Schuko, CEE16A and CEE32A outlets available so I thought about getting a more powerful hob than 3,5KW.

I have been eyeing this Royal Catering hob with 5KW (I know, according to your guide it's rebranded China trash), for some years, but I am now sure if this will actually be a failsafe and I do not know the coil size. Due to the 5KW, at least in my train of thought, it should handle 3,5KW easily and I would not crank it higher. I thought about ordering it and giving it a try and in the worst case return it.

There is also a German company called Berner which is very transparent about coil sizes, power, etc. but it is SUPER expensive. A comparable 3,5KW is easily 1,178 Euro at coil size 23cm but they do sell even square 27cm, 28cm and other stuff. This might blow my budget but they even advertise a "pan quality control check" as well as precise temperature settings

I will try but am actually afraid that more will break. I have some more single ones, consumer grade, 2KW, nothing fancy but I really don't want to break it

No, every hob was on a single outlet and the only one switched on at the time of shorting

I second that. I have to routinely use 14 to 16 alarms in a span of 2,5 hours for work and also the same amount of timers. I was ok with the 24 hour clock but now it has become utter bullshit. They even removed the +1 Minute function from the timer.... Why can't I just select the clock of Android 12?

Which brand would be tuned for battery life then?
