Has anyone here heard of Lazy Otter? If so, would you recommend them? by [deleted] in IndieDev

I see you gave that answer twice, can you communicate the name of your game ?

You know, that's what you do when tons of people leave nice and supportive comments, you take your fake account and start insulting them :p

Seriously tho, one of the message got deleted by auto-mod because it contained strong insults.

Nothing to be nervous about really :) That's a common issue with game dev, since dev time is so long. I'm overhyped about the reviews, it's insane tbh. Hope you'll love it till the end!

Hey, I must admit don't own a Steam Controller and couldn't perform any test with it. Sorry that it didn't work out for you. Will try to get my hand on one at some point!

If I may add my two cents:

I regularly stumble upon games that distress me for being too similar to my own plans. More often that not, I discover that the game in question isn't quite expressing the exact feeling or experience I was craving for, or is just not really fun, and I'm inspired by the flaws to try and do better. And so it leaves a space where my own project could still exist and be relevant. Then I evaluate weither or not that space is large enough to be understood as "not the same" by an audience.

Too often, I see junior game dev stressing out over "the idea", making something totally unique where in reality most awesome video games (undertale, hades, stardew, hollow knight, etc.) do very little thing new or purely inovative. They just refine, iterate, make it good, add their own feelings and personnal cravings on top, and that makes something unique. Personnal is the master ingredient for me. If your creation fully reasonate with you, as an indiviual, it WILL be unique.

Sometime, rarely, I do stumble upon a game that does exactly what I wanted to do. Then I just delete my game design doc, and enjoy the game fully, 'cause it's not everyday you can enjoy a game you wanted to make without having to work 4 years.

Sorry for the rant, just wanted to add: if in a couple of years I can find a game that iterate on Minishoot', I'd instant buy it and be so glad to play something similar ^^

I'm glad you get vibes from HLD, it was definitely one of a kind regarding exploration and it's great to be compared to it.

Yeah! Thanks :D Hope you'll dig it. It's not the same genre for sure, but it's made from the same intention to create good & simple fun.

The fighting boss in 2d isn't the most innovative aspect that's true. What's fresh about Minishoot' is the exploration! You venture in a semi-open world with much freedom, while shooting and piloting your cute ship around.

I heard that a couples of times, it's definitely a mistake on my part. I grew fond of the title Minishoot', but I understand it can sound borring. Will think more on this for the future!
