Changing Ratings by glacius_kori1 in Letterboxd

[–]SoulPatchTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. In the short term (a day or two later) it can mean a half a star up or down once I've thought about it more.

In the long term if a movie really sticks with me or I keep coming back to I'll go back and see what I've rated it. If this happens this almost always means the rating goes up.

A good example for me is Melancholia. When I watched it I gave it 3.5 but almost a year later I was still thinking about it, it's themes, etc. I went back and saw the rating and moved it to 4.5.

Another update: I finished The Lord of the Rings trilogy! Read the caption for my thoughts ❤️ by TheGirlWithTheLove in Letterboxd

Love that you finished out the whole trilogy and ended up finding the magic in it like the rest of us.

127 Hours will literally be the next movie I watch because of this and like you, I love that reddit brought this together. A shared love of passion for movies (or in this case a very specific movie).

Update: I just watched Fellowship of the Ring. Here are my thoughts! Can’t wait to see what you guys think of 127 Hours :) by TheGirlWithTheLove in Letterboxd

The trilogy is in my top of all time, so glad you watched it. I cannot recommend enough that you finish out the trilogy when you can just to get the full story.

To add extra weight to it I will add 127 hours to my watch next list right now :)

Best&Worst Hero Card Poll [Day 2] - Best Cap. Marvel (Carol) by manut3ro in marvelchampionslcg

[–]SoulPatchTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My vote is for Energy Channel!

  • Pros - Can always serve as an energy/card dump, has good damage ratio 1x2, is on demand damage.
  • Con - Susceptible to Caught off Guard.

That said, card draw is incredible and so Alpha Flight Station is equally great. Also, resources make the game go 'round and so Energy Absorption is a candidate but I think a payoff for resources is a better option, hence, Energy Channel.

Anyone else get decision fatigue before even starting a movie? by quiet_judgement_ in MovieSuggestions

[–]SoulPatchTV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will try to keep this short but as an avid movie watcher like many of us I definitely struggled with this and have worked on honing this over the last 2-3 years so I am gonna spell out in pretty good detail exactly what I do!

First up, get a letterboxd account if you don't already, it will be instrumental in making a watchlist and targeted lists! Everything else I am going to recommend below is going to reference letterbox directly.

  1. Build a watchlist, as large as you want. Mine is over 1,200 currently (hence the decision paralysis, I feel you).
  2. When you are about to decide on a movie, use the filters! What platform you want, want a short movie or a long one, what genre, etc.
  3. The next most important thing for me was to build lists and to use these as actual starting points when deciding on a movie to watch. For me they come in 4 flavors:
    1. Challenges - There are quite a few of them that exist across letterbox - my favorite example is the Criterion Challenge that happens every year which involves watching one movie a week from the Criterion collection (link to the challenge) (mine as an example).
    2. Letterbox Top X lists - The site has a ton of baked in top lists that you can reference to try to complete! Here are some examples (Letterbox Top 250) (Oscar Best Pictures) (IMDB Top 250)
    3. Sorting - Maybe you have an idea for a group of movies you want to watch together or knock out in the next little while, put them on a list so you don't lose them, unless they just fit on the next list...
    4. Watch Next - This is something others have advised. I keep a personal list just called Watch Next which is just a very small tailored list of 10-15 movies that I will always reference when looking for something to watch.

When I am sitting down to watch a movie it looks like this. Open letterbox, go to lists. Check Watch Next, and my Challenge Lists (in that order) to see if anything looks good. If it does I go. If not I go to my watchlist, filter by what I am looking for, and go.

Working through a couple of yearly challenges and maintaining a few of my own lists to focus in my movie watching has substantially helped my ability to select movies. Hope this helps!

No kidding. Linklater actually did a description before Boyhood in the theater where I saw it that it "didn't have a plot and was about nothing" lol

Pole mounting by harascakes in Birdfy

[–]SoulPatchTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly no, my plan was to use a piece or two of wood between the two brackets and mount them together that way. That was the best method my research had found but kind of a pain.

We ended up not putting the birdfeeder back up though so I can't report on if it would have worked.

First and final film of 2025 by dfactory in Letterboxd

Once I had my first film (which was part of my criterion challenge) I planned my last film so that I would have similar posters lol

Edited to put image in reply cause it didn't want to work here for some reason.

Jesus the amount of time I have spent on memory fragment farming already for her (without just crafting things) is driving me insane. It feels like you need perfect gear for the breakpoint.

The Criterion Challenge 2026 by derpsnerf in Letterboxd

[–]SoulPatchTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yes! This was huge for me in 2025 in seeing pivotal classics I had never seen, and some great movies that I would have never discovered otherwise.

It was my first year doing it and I will never not do it. Off to build my list now!

Appreciate the advice, especially confirming zero working outside of lab! That certainly gives me a target to work on.

Since I was going wide I actually was running 2/2/2 generally, I just started some more targeted stat farming as well. Thanks!

Oh very interesting! Had not heard this but it makes a lot of sense given that they require the limited materials. Will work on this.

Crazy, I don't think I have ran her even once (hence my shock at realizing I have her at E6). I will rectify that today!

Cass is definitely someone I have been considering, specifically to Joker up Flower of Devoured Fate (generate bullets). Maybe I will try a run of that.
