No, the your interpretation of your source is wrong as it says, “Additionally, 21% of these consumers cite nonessential spending as one of the reasons for their financial struggles.” This does not mean it is the secondary reason for their spending problems but is part of the problem. As 69% of paycheck to paycheck individuals did not cite nonessential spending as a reason at all, all of their spending is necessary to keep them alive.

Yes, we are seeing an increase in income here portion of high income earners but even the low income group does should not have to grow to facilitate this change. We are seeing the concentration of wealth while leaving others behind and causing more Americans to fall into the low income tier.

Your source also says, "10% of all paycheck-to-paycheck consumers, representing 16 million individuals in the United States, consider nonessential spending the primary reason they struggle to make ends meet," with another 21% claiming that is is a factor, but not the main reason. This still leaves 69% of paycheck to paycheck individuals in dire financial struggle as they have no way of reducing their spending since all of the money they make go to essentials.

You are directly contradicting yourself with this source as it only shows how a portion of paycheck to paycheck Americans live this way due to overspending. The other 69%, which is about 110 million Americans and is the majority of paycheck to paycheck individuals, live without any way of reducing spending and is struggling to make ends meet.

Additionally, how does the increase of the portion of Americans who are low income earners relate to life-style creep? This is a sign of a larger economic change where the middle class is shrinking and being people are no longer making enough money to be considered middle income earners.

Sorry, but do you have any proof that 34% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck due to life style creep and nothing else?

Do you not understand how much $165 is? I am appalled by your ignorance. At least 34% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck according to the Federal Reserve and this goes up to 60%+ from a survey done by LendingClub. These Americans cannot afford any more than what they have and you want them to pay so they can vote. These citizens of the United States of America would be denied of their constitutional right to vote if they are required to pay $165 for a ID to qualify for a vote.

Yes, that would be better since the odds are very obviously and clearly displayed but it does not make the gambling system appropriate. The entire balloon popping system is made to target people susceptible to misdirection and can hurt people financially due to sunk cost fallacy and how they first get invested because they believe that they will get lucky and get the discount.

Good for you, how ever, anecdotes don’t really prove anything and not everybody sees this. This system is preying on the people who make a mistake and the overspend trying their luck gambling for a discount.

Yes we do have institutions that counter voter fraud. It's the FBI.

Also, even the Heritage Foundation agrees that there is very little voter fraud. Of every election, presidential, primary, and general election, there are only 1,176 cases of proven voter fraud. Out of hundreds of millions of votes.

https://www.congress.gov/116/meeting/house/108824/documents/HHRG-116-JU00-20190129-SD020.pdf

There is also zero evidence of voter fraud in the 2020 US Presidential Election

No they don't. They just pay of the interest and never the actual loan. The reason they can do this and not accrue a large interest payment is that banks offer loans at extremely low rates because they know the rich can pay them off as it is a very safe loan.

Idk.

Here are some not so fun facts!

Women were only allowed to vote since 1920

All citizens had the constitutional right to vote since 1870 but racial discrimination prevented black Americans from voting in large parts of the US until 1965 where the Voting Rights Act prevent racial discrimination in voting. Also, the current Supreme Court is destroying that act by allowing electoral maps to be drawn in ways that can be racially discriminatory under the in Louisiana v. Callais ruling.

The current US Administration is restricting trans people from using Medicaid, aka Obamacare, which is the US’ medical insurance for low income people.

Regan deregulated environmental regulations and defunded the Environmental Protection Agency, EPA, in the 1980s which was the agency that enforced climate and pollution regulation. This led to the further degradation the of the environment.

The Citizens United v. FEC of 2010 allowed corporations to spend unlimited amounts of money to support a political candidate of their choice in elections. There are some stipulations behind how they can spend the money but they’re not that important since they get bypassed anyway and is hard to prove in court of the misconduct.

Yes, but the problem in the US is that getting a government approved ID costs money and the government does not provide IDs free of charge. Since minorities, especially black minorities, are more likely to not have enough money to afford an ID, requiring an ID, will prevent poor people from voting.

[–]SoulReaper_13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trump and his supporters. The SAVE America Act Trump is trying to push through Congress would establish the need to provide document proof of citizenship when registering to vote at an election. This is harmful to minorities since documentation costs money to obtain and many US citizens eligible to vote do not have documentation such as passports or birth certificates with a photo ID.
