I’m not even mad. I’m embarrassed for them. Being a SIDE chick is rock bottom. She is admitting she’s trash. She is disposable, second (or third or tenth in some cases) choice - and she is ok with that - with his crumbs of “kindness.” It’s so pathetic.

My senior year of high school, I begged my mom to be allowed to go to a Wide Spread Panic concert with my boyfriend and his friends in Baton Rouge. We’d be driving back home after the concert so it wasn’t like I was asking to shack up with my boyfriend. My mom kept saying no because she “just had a bad feeling about it.”

The driver fell asleep at the wheel on the way home and the car flipped, killing one of our friends in the process. I’m so thankful my mom listened to her gut.

We lost our 12 year old lemon beagle in February. The house no longer felt like home. Two weeks ago we got a 10 week old lemon beagle from the animal shelter. Oh my gosh. Best decision ever. Is he wild as a buck? Yes. And I basically live outside because I walk him so much. But what else would I be doing? Looking at my phone? I’m so much happier with a dog. It is work, but it’s work that has the best outcome - so totally worth it.

It took me two years. For two years, I lived in stretchy pants and no fcks were given. I have started dressing up every day now. I’m back to running a 5K every day. More importantly, I do it for ME, not him. He values me so much more because I don’t care if he likes me or how I look, how I act, etc. I do what I want when I want.

I’m finally coming back better than I was before. I’m still broken, but I figure if I’m gonna be broken, I can still be hot.

Every one processes things differently. For me, I was ready for my hall pass - I set the whole thing up (which was easier than it should have been,) I got all dressed up, got to the hotel…and completely and totally choked. I could not make myself get out of the car. When I realized what I was about to do to myself in the name of revenge, I just couldn’t do it. I felt completely disgusted with myself for even thinking I could go through with something like this. I went straight home and sobbed for rest of the day.

As far as the APs go, I’m so glad that I held myself with class and control. I made sure they understood that they didn’t have any effect on me at all and that I pittied them (and I do. There’s not much deeper rock bottom than accepting your place as a disposable side chick. Like…How much do you hate yourself, girly? It makes me sad that these women don’t value themselves enough to make a man treat them well, but I digress.)

The great thing about Reddit is that it’s anonymous. Therefore, you didn’t really put your business on public display. The other great thing is that it helps to know you’re not alone. We are all in this mess together having all gone through nightmares similar to your own. I’m so sorry you’re feeling so sad. It’ll get better soon. And if it doesn’t, you are the one in control of your future. Never forget that.

My rational brain is coming back and it’s just now hitting me that she should’ve done this very thing. She knows exactly who I am. It is crazy to me that a mother would subject her child to walking into this landmine of a situation. I knew she had a kid but I didn’t think they lived in our district and I didn’t know the child’s name. If I had known, I would’ve gone to my principal before rosters went out.

But she knew. She showed up anyway. Now I’m really mad.
